Physical aggression at school

My son was punched in the face by another boy at his (private) school. Other boy got a one day suspension. Apparently this is not the first incident where this boy has been physically aggressive. Does anyone know what the rules are in private schools regarding this kind of thing, or is it totally up to each individual school?

Gosh I have no advice but wanted to send my sympathy, how horrific. A one day suspension sounds incredibly lenient, particularly if the boy in question has a history of aggressive behaviour. Can the school safeguard your DS safety when he returns in Sept assuming he has now broken up for the summer?

Hope your son is ok. I don't know what the rules are in private schools or how it would be dealt with in other schools. Hopefully someone can advise.

Good idea from Rudi to ask if the school will be able to keep your son safe from being assualted in future.

The school should have a behaviour and discipline policy on their website. If it's not there, ask them for a copy.
