Y8 class with less than 10 kids? would you run or stay?

Moved school in Oct (rural Scotland to rural England)
due to kids dyslexia not supported in previous school (and real concerns about current scottish curriculum).
New school is small Middle School.

Just after we moved they consulted to close the School
It will now stay open till next summer only but there have been 3 Heads and endless disruption. School not what we thought it was :(

Found out - today- that my current Y7 ds will go into a composite class next year with 5 Y8 and '2 or 3' Y7. That's it!
His intervention (which consisted of going over the first 300 words, endlessly..) stopped earlier this term but no one told me.
They cant say if he will get any next year.

Senco (also teaches English) is hopeless.
My Y5 will be in a class of 20. She has just screened as Dyslexic but they arent sure if they will do a proper assessment. Her intervention (all 3 weeks of) now stopped too.

So, I wish I'd known this before the Scottish term ended. My Y7 would have been due to start High School in Scotland this year. So, he will have missed all his transition (was due to be enhanced anyway as he is so scared of High School).
What to do?
Would such a tiny Y8 worry you?

That in itself wouldn't worry but combined with the other things I would be very worried. With so few children their budget is going to be severely hampered (how many should there be?) which means that the resources they have for things like SEN are going to be very small. I would speak to the HT with a list of concerns and also ask for their plans for the immediate and mid term future. If they are closing anyway I can't see how anyone who is there is motivated to continue.

Well I'd be worried.
But I don't know what your other options are or how things work in Scotland.
imo Anything less than 100 per year wouldn't be enough in secondary to be able to provide the options, setting, choice, friendships, extracurricular activities that teens are likely to want.
DD has a year group of 250.

TeenAndTween

Yy to other options not being great which is why we moved.

School are saying: oh it will be great, tiny numbers like a private School, but I am not so sure :(

Hmmm. today was art, all day, with the Head.
Apparantly HT will be 'doing lots of the lessons' next year Confused

I might ask for this to be moved to Secondary education?
