Being sick before exams. Any help?

Poor ds. Year 9 exams started today. He's well prepared. He's revised. He doesn't struggle particularly. In other words he is as ready as he might be. He has, until this morning, been calm and I don't have to nag or cajole. But he gets a really nervous stomach. Struggled to get breakfast down then threw up 5 minutes before leaving the house. Not ideal preparation at all. Thing is he doesn't actually feel especially anxious about the exams but this is a horrid way to start.
Any tips to stop this? I know and he knows some butterflies in the stomach is completely normal but this is hard as he then worries he might be sick in the exam hall.

Is it a one off .. or a pattern? Has it happened before other stressful stuff?
Ds used to have stress induced migraines in exams . He couldn't see the paper in one of his gcse exams. We headed it off by giving him precautionary headache tabs before he went off to exams.
A friend has a dc who vomits with stress and she gives them travel sickness tab the night before an event. I think it's mostly psychological.. the child fells better because they know they can't be sick because they've had the tablet.

He will probably fine tomorrow, once he gets in the swing of them. If not, rescue remedy?

Would not having breakfast help? I know it's not ideal but could he take a sandwich/ hit cross bun to have when he finishes?

I used to have this issue before my exams there wasn't an awful lot that could be done about it.

Thank you everyone for your replies.
So he was fine (of course!), the exams were all okay (4 today Confused) and he didn't feel sick again.
Yes this has happened before. Rationally he knows all will be fine but just can't get the jitters under control. I am pretty certain we won't have a repeat tomorrow, if previous events are anything to judge it by. But come GCSEs I really don't relish the idea of him vomiting just before that and will certainly consider a prophylactic/psychological travel sickness tablet.

Thank you all Smile
