So depressed I can't write properly.

I meant Edexcel Higher was hard.

pilates · 13/06/2017 16:33

DD said Edexel foundation ok, better than paper 2. Just hope she gets a 4 as really don't want her to have to retake at college.

BertrandRussell · 13/06/2017 16:37

My ds and his friends said this was the hardest paper by far- so your dd is not alone!

Piggywaspushed · 13/06/2017 16:42

It's a DS but otherwise - phew!

He actually always seems out of step with the MN DCs. If something is reported as easy , he says it was hard and vice versa. Although he is a glass half empty type so he never says easy, just 'OK'

In his opinion Paper 1 maths was 'OK' and the other two were 'hard'

He then says' but I won't tell DF that' (DF is a maths teacher , of the 'traditional' variety.) And then he does. Why, child , why???!!??

readyforsunshine · 13/06/2017 16:49

Ds found paper 2 easiest (higher edexel) this paper hard, he's pretty good at maths but not exceptional. Looking at comments it seems to depend how their brain works. Lots of v bright ones found paper 2 hard, this one easier. We will find out soon enough!

Peaceandl0ve · 13/06/2017 17:01

DS said wjec higher maths non calc paper was hard, reckons he got around 35 out of 80, he normally gets around 65 out of 80. Ho hum, there's always retakes.

RedHelenB · 13/06/2017 17:23

I'm sure he won't need to retakeon that score Peace and it is the score over 3 papers.

RaskolnikovsGarret · 13/06/2017 17:34

AQA higher - everyone found it easy apparently. More importantly, it's over!!!

LittleHo · 13/06/2017 17:46

It must be to do with how your brain works with Maths. My ds thought paper one (Edexcel) was the hardest and todays paper was by far the easiest.

ds's disrupted exam yesterday was due to actions of other students (not someone walking into the exam hall). I think they will be expelled if they are tracked down as it caused so much trouble.

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 13/06/2017 17:50

Not everyone found AQA higher easy here.... my DD says whatever no more maths (I guess she's assuming she'll get a 4/5 Confused

I haven't the heart to comment on that....

Only 5 more GCSEs to go but DS doesn't fjnish A levels till a week later so the atmosphere will be extreme stress until 29th which is also DD's prom....

Mumteadumpty · 13/06/2017 17:54

DD, ( Edexel Higher) found this paper much harder, and is wondering if her brain works at all. Deflated sums up the mood here.

cantkeepawayforever · 13/06/2017 17:55

DS liked Paper 3 (Edexcel). He's kicking himself about a single question he made a mistake in, rather than about everything past Q15 in paper 2!

Chemistry and History tomorrow... 3 down, 4 to go this week.

Laniakea · 13/06/2017 17:56

Everyone here thought this AQA paper (higher) was the worst of the three, two was best & one was less bad than expected. Not sure if that's a difference in emphasis in teaching it what (dd is top set and has lots of friends in set 2 so it wasn't just one group thinking that). She's put in so many hours of maths that it will be a cosmic injustice if she doesn't get the 6.

HappyMum543 · 13/06/2017 17:57

My Ds come home at 1 after history intervention I asked him about maths he sed it was okay in the middle edexcel higher he's doing. He really hopes he gets a 5 he was on a -4 for mocks practice makes it better.
Maths over now yesss 2 more to go
History tommorow but my son says he doesn't need to revise omg... Angry he says he got an hours booster before the exam what can I do any suggestions he's gone for a bike ride but he sed he's chillin when he gets home.... I really want him to at least get a c in history

Madhairday · 13/06/2017 18:00

DD thinks this was the hardest (edexcel higher). P2 was the best in her opinion. They do all seem to process it differently so try it to worry.

Apparently some DC missed the last 2 questions according to Twitter as they were on the very back. Something about Dan and his 420 cakes...

Peaceandl0ve · 13/06/2017 18:00

Thing is we are in wales, it is over 2 papers, they sit a maths numeracy paper also, which has gone better. Still on the old grading system here, he in normally an A grade student in maths so he is a bit knocked for six tonight.

AtiaoftheJulii · 13/06/2017 18:08

Yes, ds sniggering about the 420 cakes too!

errorofjudgement · 13/06/2017 18:28

DD back from Edexcel Higher. She thought it was the hardest paper, but answered every question "with something, but not the full answer"
Still providing she gets a pass, no more maths ever! Needs to focus on tomorrow's History paper now.

RaskolnikovsGarret · 13/06/2017 19:33

Sorry DD Edexcel not AQA.

choccyp1g · 13/06/2017 19:44

EdExcel here, Ds thought it was fine, most of his maths-y friends thought it was easier than the calculator paper.

Fleurdelise · 13/06/2017 20:04

Ready snap, DS said paper 2 the easiest, today's one middle (hard but doable) and first one the hardest. That's Edexcel higher. We'll know soon enough.

LIZS · 13/06/2017 20:16

Chemistry and History (Germany) here tomorrow. Fortunately ds is home from uni in time to help with History revision. Good luck to everyone for the final push.

BringOnTheScience · 13/06/2017 20:45

On the home straight now ... Chemistry and history tomorrow, day off on Thurs to cram for physics on Fri... then FSMQ maths next Tuesday.

This time next week, it'll all be over for us. Celebrating with another gig for the band!

woodlands01 · 13/06/2017 22:25

Edexcel higher here. DD texted IMMEDIATELY saying it was really hard. That sent me into panic! I then saw paper (Maths teacher same board) and really panicked as it seemed fine with topics on she could do.
After tonight's dissection I think she thought she would find it 'easy' as she felt very well prepared - she has revised loads and we had done lots of work on predicting what would come up. She did many of the questions I thought she could and even attempted some that I wouldn't have expected her to. I'm confident she has done fine and I think I have re-assured her.
For the higher set of papers I think those students targeting grade 7 and above have had a tough time in that end of paper questions really stretched them - I think for these students paper 1 and 2 were hardest, paper 3 seemed more 'do-able' at the end. For middle ground (my higher group - 'aspirational' targets of 7 - ) I think papers were generally more accessible than they could have been - I thought second half of paper 2 was particularly difficult for these students, although my DD disagreed.
Very interesting teaching the same set as my DD (in different schools) - stress level as a parent 100% more.

I also had a foundation group! Thought paper 1 for foundation was horrid, paper 2 much better and paper 3 OK first half but some tricky questions at end. Interestingly, tricky because of wording and lack of labelled diagrams rather than the Maths.

Never mind the teenage party in the garden on Friday - I'm having a party of my own!

Sprog19 · 13/06/2017 22:26

AQA higher here - DS says it went Ok. Seeing that he was getting the equivalent of Us and Fs in year 10, the fact that he's been confident after all 3 papers is a bloody miracle and all thanks to his marvellous maths tutor. Revision for the Wild West history paper was distinctly dodgy last night - it's an A level choice, so bit anxious, as he reckons he messed up the cavalry question on paper 1. Tomorrow, with two exams, is a real hump to get over, then a day to revise physics and a whole three days for history of surgery. And then.... prosecco!
