London State School for Dyslexic kids?

Can anyone recommend a (state) School in London that is good for kids with Dyslexia, pls?

I am in Northumberland and contemplating a big move...

anyone?

Orleans park, Teddington and Christs in Richmond have a dyslexia speciality but you needs a EHCP or statement and each school only has 6 dyslexia specific places

Depends what you mean by 'good with dyslexia ' and depends what support your DS needs......

Dyslexia is a huge spectrum.....

In general most schools offer reading lessons for children who can't read. And not much else.

His reading age is off the scale. As is his IQ.
But he can't spell and can barely write. Parts of Maths a big issue.
He is disorganised. Hugely hugely. Dressing still an issue.
Also social difficulties - ASD - quiet but bullied.
Conformist - gets stressed by changes in rules etc
aged 13 (nearly)

dd is 10. Ditto for Dyslexia symptoms. But much less willing to 'give it a go' than ds. Puts her head down and cries in English.

Neither have a statement.

Worship, I think a lot depends on the SENCO, but like everywhere also on the ethos of the school. I know round by me some schools are much more accepting and welcoming. Where in London do you want to live? That might help narrow it down.

I have moved from the Scottish system (which is AWFUL imo) to Northumberland. It's better, but not enough.
We've been on a few trips down to the smoke and I've realised a. I dont want to be buried up here any longer
b. in Cities there is such a choice of schools. Here they are 30 miles apart, at least.

Well to cheer you on, I think London's a great place to grow up, even if it is expensive. You are right about the choice. We looked at 8 secondaries for our DS - all within around a mile radius, all very different, all state. He had a chance (though no guarantee) of getting into all of them. It sounds like a choice, but in some ways it's not, as the schools are pretty much all over subscribed, so that will make it tricky for you as I'm guessing he'll be joining in year 9 and your dd in year 6 (?). Then again, there's a fluid population in London, so you will get in somewhere. Have you any ideas where you want to live?

Kennington area? is that a cheaper area? Elephant and Castle?

I have no idea! Are you renting or buying? Maybe look at RightMove to give you a guide for prices on the sort of home you're imagining. Once you've sussed which areas you can afford/ like the sound off, why not start a new thread with those boroughs in the title. You'll get more responses that way. Good luck!

If you can get an EHCP then eger-roth.co.uk/ is worth looking at. It is an independent school but LEAs do pay for some children to go there if they have n EHCP.

It's not in London but children travel from London, Beda and Herts to go there.
