11+ 2018 entry south London/ surrey Girls' independent schools applicants

Hello all, nervously starting this new thread. Been reading threads from previous years. We are applying to JAGS and 2 surrey independents. One GDST and a co-ed school.

I wonder if anyone knows what proportion of girls that do the JAGS pre-test get called back for the actual exams.

Also how competitive is the sports scholarship? DD does rounders, gymnastics, netball, gymnastics, athletics and hockey in school. She has a natural flare for sports, we don't push her at all.

Yes AveEldon, I agree. Thankfully the schools we are considering have no clashes and quite a good spread. Even the scholarship assessments are spread out well.

Now we just need to get on with completing the forms. All the best to everyone else's DC.

Anybody here sitting independent schools in North east london?
Chigwell? Forest? Bancroft?
Have you heard from any of these schools re interviews?

TimeForLunch · 23/01/2018 06:28

Hi, we’re doing Forest and Chigwelll. Chigwell did the interviews before the exam and we’ve just heard from Forest following the exam with an invitation to interview. Does anyone know what this will entail?

CameliaRain · 23/01/2018 15:20

Thanks TimeForLunch.
I meant the scholarship interviews for Chigwell. We havent heard from Forest as yet, do you have a date for the interview?

TimeForLunch · 23/01/2018 17:40

Hi, yes we have the interview at Forest next week. It might be different for scholarships though. Good luck, fingers crossed for everyone going through this gruelling process!

Hi there, been mostly lurking and following a few of these threads. I notice it’s particularly quiet on girls’ school.

My DD sat 4 independent schools and she has an offer already, but not first on our list.

She has had interviews with another school.

For those who sat the JAGS exam, they sent out an email about scholarship interviews which will be next week, saying if we have not heard by the end of this week then we should assume no call back for scholarship interviews. My question is, has anyone actually received an invitation to interviews? Of all the girls that sat the exam in DD school no one has heard back, and there are some really bright girls who passed super selective grammars that haven’t hear also. So I’m just wondering if anyone has heard.

Thanks. Good luck to all those who are still having interviews.

Good luck to all the mums of girls awaiting results for Clapham & Streatham.. I think they get posted today but keep wondering if they will arrive earlier like Alleyns? 😬

godricshollow · 01/02/2018 20:19

Yes JAGS have been interviewing girls for academic scholarships this week @WarmAndco3y.

WarmAndco3y · 01/02/2018 21:50

Thanks godricshollow someone mentioned same on another thread. Did your DD have an interview? Do you know how many sat the exam and how many interviewed?

Stircrazyschoolmum, have Alleyns really releases results??? Shock

Puddinglane12 · 09/02/2018 19:04

Hello all, how has everyone's DC done? Hope you got the news you want

Really pleased to report DD got offers from the 4 schools she sat and with sport's scholarships. We are really proud of her. Glad it's half term, we can spend the next few days thinking over the offers and make decisions. I think we've ruled one school out already.

Pudding congratulations to you and your DD. Well done.
My DD got offers too. We are proud of her and thrilled.
Hoping it’s good news all round.

NiveaLipBalm · 10/02/2018 10:25

Hello all, delurking to say hello ... these threads have been very helpful to folks like me, new to figuring out this process! We've been very fortunate in having offers from the 2 indies we applied to, including JAGS, which I think is our current front-runner. Now to figure out what to do...! Would love to connect via DM with any other current/potential JAGS parents ... I see someone has asked a question on another thread, I'll go there...

Congrats to everyone's DCs on their hard work, whatever the outcome of this process has been.

fre123 · 14/02/2018 18:59

congratulations to all, my DD got offer to Jags aswell which is our preferred school
plus 2 academic scholarship from 2 other Gdst schools. glad all this exams are over .
they all get to rest.

Puddinglane12 · 15/02/2018 10:57

Warm, Nivea and Fre, well done to your DDs. Looks like we are opting for JAGs too, we have released 2 offers. Of the 2 remaining our DD prefers JAGs, but we've just got to make sure it's for the right reasons.

Are you all going to the fun day?

OP posts:
WarmAndco3y · 15/02/2018 11:21

Yes DD going to the fun day.
Congratulations to your DDs fre123 and NiveaLipBalm And to all other DC for their hard work and various successes. To those who didn’t quite get the news they want. Hang on in there, after March 1st, things should move again.
