Art teacher only two weeks ago was saying low B or high C. Now this. She's gutted.

He said its because She's done so much in charcol which can't be detailed enough. But he's known for ages she was doing charcol. Why didnt he say something before? He's previously said her work was expressive and had a good style.

He's given her a week to put some more work in and says if its detailed enough she may get a C but probably not.

OP if it's any consolation my DP is an architect and they don't really do much hand drawing these days, it's all on the computer. In fact I had a discussion with Patrik Schumacher about this at a party once; he said he would have no interest in employing someone who hand-drew everything, as it means the design team can't work collaboratively on it in the same way they could if it were digital.
For that reason a lot of architecture courses have scrapped the requirement to have an Art A-level; DP says it's more important to have Maths. Did I see upthread she's doing DT too? That'll also stand her in good stead.

youcantscareme. Thanks. Yes the art diploma is an option. Dd is going to the local uni next month to talk to the architecture course leader so hopefully will also have a clearer idea of requirements then.

Fearnie. Yes, had noticed art doesn't seem to be a requirement any more. Dd is doing graphics and on course for an A* and she will be doing product design for one of her A levels.

Quite a few courses at RG universities say they do teach 'manual' design so choose carefully. It is not universal that teaching is all computer aided design.

Thanks, that's worth knowing.
