Grade Links in Different GCSE Subjects

I found this link online and thought that this would also be interesting to discuss on here cambridgeassessment.org.uk/our-research/data-bytes/do-grades-in-one-gcse-subject-predict-results-in-another/.
This data relates to pupils who took GCSE exams in 2016. My dds best results were Biology, Chemistry, English Lit, RS and French so guess that fits in with the data. Interesting how Biology fits in as a bridge between Science and Humanities subjects. What do the rest of you think?

Well it is obvious from the bar graphs just how high the percentage of A*s and As are and why they have felt it necessary to switch to 9-1 grading system to spread them out a bit and differentiate between truly gifted high achievers.

The links, I would have thought, were fairly obvious in that there is the similarity (and similar mindsets) between the linked subjects.

Biology is the bridge in that there is less analytical scientific thinking required for it.

The bars on each graph is fixed with A at 23.8% until you click on it to do the dynamic thing. The percentage of students actually getting As is much lower than 23.8% - 3.3% for English and 5.7% for maths, for example. The charts don't seem to show the actual distribution of grades.

The charts don't show the actual percentages of pupils achieving the different grades. It's the probability of obtaining a particular grade expressed as a percentage.
So if you click on biology grade A, the other probabilities light up below.
Hope this is helpful for parents whose dcs are taking GCSEs.
