Tutor for A-level...where to start?

Hi...with just a few months to go before exams we now understand that son is struggling with biology. He needs a B as absolute minimum, an A would be preferable to enable first choice uni. He has always been a high flyer so it has come as a bit of a shock that he is not on target. Looking online to find a tutor for some intensive lessons, but where do you start?! So many websites, how do you work out if they are any good? Can anyone recommend a website (or date I ask...a biology tutor in Frome, Somerset?!). Thanks for your time!

My mate's dd is doing biology A level - she has a string of A*s in GCSEs but she is struggling with the new spec....the Uni offers are apparently as high as previous years but I suspect they will be accepting lower grades when the results come in because no one is acing it at the moment.

We had some good ones via first tutors. Have you asked if school could recommend anyone?

First tutors and tutor hunt are useful places to start. Look for qualified teachers, preferably currently practising. A lot of tutors are graduates, which is fine for subject knowledge, but what your son needs is someone who knows the exam spec and how to answer the questions.

Then look at the reviews, and send a message to those tutors within a reasonable travelling distance. Make it personal if you can.

Thanks all...am actually on Tutor Hunt at the moment and may take the plunge. With Uni of Bath.nearby, there seems to be a lot of students with cheaper rates, but perhaps more experienced tutor might be better...

Lottachocc...thats exactly where we are. Son is telling me that unis might lower their offers and I was sceptical, so good to hear from another source!
