Hi all. Keep in touch with uni offers, new jobs, gap years, exams, etc. We can get through his Grin

Dd still quite calm but has taken to putting a notice up outside her room with sellotape 'Doing Mock, Do Not Disturb' Grin.
She was in sole charge of the other three for two days as i was away for a long weekend and Dh had to go to China urgently.I think they lived on Pizza and noodles! Dd said the hardest thing was getting them to bed and took their phones off them at night.I think she deserves a financial reward.

bigTillyMint · 10/05/2017 11:56

TetaGrin - love the sign!
I think she deserves a reward too - that is quite a responsibility especially with stressful exams coming up!

HSMMaCM · 10/05/2017 13:46

Teta sounds like she learnt a lot there. Good for her getting on with her revision.

DH says we won't know if DD is really revising until her exam results. Trouble is we won't even know then I don't think. He says some parents are supervising revision and I pointed out that even those children might just be pretending to revise.

ErrolTheDragon · 10/05/2017 19:11

As 2 of DDs are maths, its endless past papers rather than revision for those, there seems to be a lot of diligent scribbling.

HSMMaCM · 11/05/2017 08:49

Btec is finished now. Just the 2 A levels to get through, in between all the teenage dramas.

OP posts:
teta · 11/05/2017 09:57

Errol, mine has been doing loads of past papers too.In fact most of her revision appears to be Maths at the moment.I know Biology is relatively easy for her but I'm a bit concerned by the organic chemistry.
Dd and her friends have booked a weeks holiday in Mallorca to rest and recuperate after the exams and before the leavers ball. They just need to sort out the flights today. They're staying in my sisters house which is beautiful .I will pay dd's share of the costs as a present for baby sitting her brothers and sister over the weekend.

bigTillyMint · 11/05/2017 13:15

HAM, DD wishes she had chosen a Btec for that very reason!

Tera, that sounds really lovely.

HSMMaCM · 11/05/2017 13:28

I'm quite glad she dropped a subject last year as well I think it would've been too much for her

OP posts:
teta · 11/05/2017 13:40

Well done to your dd Hsmm.2 A levels doesn't sound so bad.
We haven't sorted out the student finance yet and dh is away. Can we change our application to just ask for the minimum loan instead of submitting our financial details?According Todd we have to submit the application in the next two days.
I've found really cheap flights for £66 but can't get hold of Dd at school.Sods law they will all be sold out by the time Dd comes home!

bigTillyMint · 11/05/2017 13:55

HAM? Bloody predictive text!

DD's old bf did a Btec and 2 A's - fab to have something out of the way!

We just did the minimum thing and it was really quick - they sent a form that we had to fill in and return. I think it's May 31st?

HSMMaCM · 11/05/2017 14:37

Yes I think if you don't send figures they just do the minimum. We are having a bit of a battle, because the inland revenue sent the wrong figures and we have been awarded the minimum, instead of about £400 more. I am on the case, but they seem to have to speak to all three of us every time I call them Angry.

Last push now ladies! Grin

DS's first exam is next week (resitting a Geog paper to hopefully bump up his grade). Study leave starts Mon 29th.

He's been doing lots of maths, so I'm hoping he hasn't neglected the other subjects.

ErrolTheDragon · 11/05/2017 20:35

DD stayed late tonight to go over vectors with the FM teacher, having mostly done maths all day, but has just printed off a physics paper for a change.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 14/05/2017 07:44

Wow, just realising that DD only has two more weeks of school before half-term when she goes on study leave.
School's not really over til after exams of course, and they have a final leavers assembly and leavers meal at end of June, which is a nice idea.

But only a few more days of watching DD and DS go into school together when I drop them off - they usually walk along together having a nice old chat!

Horsemad · 14/05/2017 10:38

Only 12 more school shirts to iron, then that's it FOREVER!! Shock

HSMMaCM · 14/05/2017 11:25

Horse - were we supposed to iron them? Grin

OP posts:
bebumba · 14/05/2017 11:39

Ha ha! Ds moved from school to a sixth form college so I haven't ironed a shirt for two whole years 😀.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 14/05/2017 13:07

Yes, have to admit we just hope they come out good enough from the tumble dryer!
Glad it's not just me HSM 😊

bigTillyMint · 14/05/2017 13:56

Haha, just what I thought - you are supposed to iron school shirts?!

DD's last official day before study leave is 26th, but I think she's planning on revising in the library a lot till then - no doubt there will be lots of anguished emails/texts from the school.
DS has his first GCSE tomorrow. Gulp!

ono40 · 14/05/2017 14:42

BTM - GCSEs and A levels in the same year, you are brave!

DS finishes on Thursday (they have a fun day on Friday with dressing up, bouncy castles etc but last lessons on Thursday) . DH is away all next week so I will have to ask DS to babysit as I am out for work three nights on the trot.

DS wants a job to save money for his holiday but as he is only here for a total of 4 weeks I have told him that he will have to work in a warehouse/factory as no-one will take him on on such a temporary basis. Anyone got any ideas where to look for temp work?

teta · 14/05/2017 15:01

Fruit picking, labouring?I'm not really sure.Round here everyone seems to work in cafes or supermarkets.
I don't iron shirts for dd1 as she is supposed to wear business dress. So she irons her own clothes. Have to iron three lots of shirts for the others though.
Dd has decided to try and diet .She has put in an order for advocado ,spinach, pistachios, banana and coconut oil.All from the Michael Moseley healthy gut diet.Tis a strange time to diet but hey ho.She wants to look slim for the Spanish holiday with her friends and has been perusing bikinis and espadrilles in Tk Maxx online. She says revising is getting boring now and took half a day off yesterday, but is working intensively today.

Horsemad · 14/05/2017 16:15

Shirts: am I the only one who irons them then? Hmm I don't use a tumble dryer so in an effort to make DS look presentable, I do iron (grudgingly!).

I have tried to encourage DS to learn to cook and iron but to no avail - he's going to have a ride awakening, isn't he?! Grin

Horsemad · 14/05/2017 16:15

*rude

HSMMaCM · 14/05/2017 18:51

We don't have a tumble dryer. We taught dd to iron when she was about 10 and she hasn't worn an ironed shirt since Grin. I worked on the basis that they weren't allowed to take their jumpers off, so no one would notice anyway, as long as it was clean.

OP posts:
ErrolTheDragon · 14/05/2017 19:12

DD's pre-6th form uniform shirts were the M&S 'no iron' ones and they really were OK just tumble dried. Her 6th form self-imposed 'uniform' is black skinnies (again fine just tumble dried) and checked shirts, mosly flannelette type which I think need ironing so do them. I only work half time and have zero commute and DH is more or less retired, so she gets off very lightly from household duties at the moment, as she really is working harder than either of us. She says after exams, she will do some cooking and her own ironing but only intends to do the collars and cuffs.
