Hi all. Keep in touch with uni offers, new jobs, gap years, exams, etc. We can get through his Grin

Last one - Physics AQA tomorrow morning.

dd has head in hands on Physics paper. She is really tired so I have suggested an early night.

LittleHo · 28/06/2017 21:52

It doesn't help that she is getting lovely photos and updates from friends who are on holiday.

tobee · 28/06/2017 21:56

Ds woke up at about 8.30 today (no exam) thought he'd just lie there for a bit, fell asleep by mistake and woke up at about 1 pm! ShockShockShock So much for getting up early to go to sleep early for last exam tomorrow!

JugglingFromHereToThere · 28/06/2017 22:11

Good luck to everyone with those last exams tomorrow!

It's good when you're through!

ErrolTheDragon · 28/06/2017 23:33

He must have needed it, tobee.

Nearly there...

bebumba · 29/06/2017 07:09

The last one today for DS at last! Good luck to all those doing Physics.

LineyWimey · 29/06/2017 07:22

I've been up fretting since 6.30, DS seems to have decided not to get up. Better go and wake him.

Physics obviously isn't calling to him.

HSMMaCM · 29/06/2017 08:00

Good luck everyone today.

DD is now officially nocturnal. Asleep all day yesterday and came in at some point early this morning!

Very last school run done, dd has an energy drink for breakfast Shock
Praying to the patron saint of physics for everyone.

teta · 29/06/2017 08:35

Good luck today everyone.
Dd asleep with three friends on the floor upstairs after a marathon nightclub session. Had to wake up ds1 very quietly for school this morning as his room is next to dd's.
Dh has been reorganising the summer holiday due to Dd lack of visa.So Angkor Wat here we come.Dh is happy to leave Dd in Singapore as it's safe while we have a shorter week in Australia.I have said he needs to cut the apron strings as she will be leaving home ( hopefully) in three months.

ErrolTheDragon · 29/06/2017 08:43

Amen to that.

DD did her early bed followed by appearing in my room in the small hours, but calmly this time.

ono40 · 29/06/2017 10:41

Good luck to all physicists for today.

We have leavers' dinner/prom today. Couldn't decide whether corsages were a thing so I ordered one for DS' gf anyway to be on the safe side. He is at work all day at an outdoor bushcraft camp for schools. Tomorrow it is the boat party/prom followed by clubbing in London. He is staying at his gf so I must remind him of that scene in Trainspotting where Spud stays over!

Teta we are going to Angkor Wat and Vietnam at the end of July!

LineyWimey · 29/06/2017 11:10

Has anyone heard how Physics was? DS did OCR. Hasn't texted.

LittleHo · 29/06/2017 11:16

No text so far for AQA Physics. Must be bad.

I'm just pleased there are no more exams.

stonecircle · 29/06/2017 11:27

DS has just come back from OCR physics. The first paper in his entire school career that he hasn't had time to finish! He said it was "tricky". 6 questions I believe and he left the 6 marker at the end of question 5 as he thought he could pick up more marks more quickly on question 6 (though he didn't finish that either). He says none of his friends finished and the general consensus was that it was hard.

LineyWimey · 29/06/2017 11:33

stonecircle do you know, was it all mechanics, or was there some theoretical physics?

I have had a cryptic text from DS and he's not home.

stonecircle · 29/06/2017 11:39

I don't know I'm afraid Liney and DS has gone back to bed! Physics is way beyond my comprehension so he doesn't go into too much detail with me! He did say the first question was something to do with a circuit which everyone said was really hard and he didn't think was - so wondering if he missed something!

LittleHo · 29/06/2017 11:48

Text from dd to say AQA Physics was ok. Turning points part good but the practical part not so good. Mind you the reaction online is terrible so feel happy with an ok.

olliepolly · 29/06/2017 12:16

Congrats to all those surviving physics today and finally finishing. DD1 partying though plans for beach today scuppered by the weather which is horrid . Hope all enjoy a bit of relaxation and are able to put thoughts of August 17 th to the back of their minds, I'm trying.

LineyWimey · 29/06/2017 13:02

Apparently OCR physics was terrible - as in, not going to university any more terrible - but yet AQA wasn't so bad because half of that paper was easy while half was difficult.

But OCR was impossible. DS, His friends, Reddit all saying that there were far too many extremely difficult questions for a short 90 minute paper, and an odd mark scheme, so that students tackling them in order might achieve 20% in the time. For students missing the first question entirely, they're still only predicting 25%.

tobee · 29/06/2017 13:16

So ds finally done! English lit unseen texts. Because he gets max extra time he finished alone. So I picked him up in the car and drove him straight to subway where I imagine he's having a foot long meatball sub Grin. Then its resting at home with leavers ball tonight followed by a bar. Ds told me he doesn't want to have me making too much of a fuss. I thought I was very restrained and cool. Oh ok, I don't send him 5 different celebration gifs.

dingit · 29/06/2017 13:16

AQA paper deemed best paper yet. Now off holiday shopping and pub. Prom tomorrow. I am so relieved ds is not doing A levels, I don't think I could ever go through that again.

stonecircle · 29/06/2017 13:25

Oh dear Liney - you've got me worried now. DS can be a bit overly optimistic in how exams have gone. He needs a good grade for Physics as he wants to do it at uni. Still if everyone found it hard grade boundaries will be low etc

ErrolTheDragon · 29/06/2017 13:36

I've not heard from my DD yet... she was returning books and hopefully hanging out with some mates after the exam so maybe no news is good news. The aqa paper was the one where half or so was the option so may be variable...

Sorry the OCR sounds bad, but delighted that dingit's exam went well, after a horrible week.

ErrolTheDragon · 29/06/2017 13:37

Obv I meant dingits DD's exam, I know we're a thread of overinvested parents but not quite that bad!
