A lot of sadness in the last few pages, thinking of all those affected.

LineyWimey · 25/06/2017 21:58

I'm so sorry, dingit.

teta · 26/06/2017 08:07

Good luck to all the Bio students today.May the essay be a good one.
Ds2 went off on a school trip today very early. At 4am this morning I flung his folded clothes into a bag for travelling. This bag had been drying overnight.Dh informed me he'd propped it open with a can of barbecue gas last night and where was this barbecue gas?
I can't find it and it's not on the kitchen floor. So presumable it's in his luggage on the coach and they were the first group to get on the coach.I've sent a message to the teacher in charge...... and will probably now be infamous forever.

LineyWimey · 26/06/2017 08:59

I'm very nervous for DS today. He needs to get A* or A in biology. It's a white knuckle ride.

teta any update on the AWOL barbecue gas story? It is quite funny in a Shock kind of way!

Good luck to all in the final week.

HSMMaCM · 26/06/2017 09:15

Good luck everyone. Teta I can laugh about the BBQ gas, because it doesn't affect me GrinGrinGrin

Best wishes to the biology students. Anyone else doing Stats 2? DD has that this afternoon.

dingit · 26/06/2017 09:21

Thanks for all the Flowerseveryone.

Looks like the proverbial shit has hit the fan at dds school. They timetabled biology for this afternoon. They are frantically emailing and texting everyone.

Good luck to all taking it today. We are in the home straits.

LittleHo · 26/06/2017 09:21

dd has Further Pure Maths 2 OCR this afternoon. Anyone else?

The BBQ gas story is funny. Imagine the teacher's reaction when he or she got that text. Grin

ono40 · 26/06/2017 09:32

Dingit, just catching up here, so sorry to hear your news. How awful for you all, look after yourselves Flowers

Good luck to all doing exams today

aginghippy · 26/06/2017 10:11

DD has S2 maths this afternoon, doesn't seem overly worried about it.

Good luck everyone.

HSMMaCM · 26/06/2017 12:05

Dingit! They'll have to get all those kids in isolation pretty dam quickly! I bet there are no other lessons going on while all the staff get onto that one.

DD has finished all her key exams! ( though still has a general studies tomorrow)
This one not so great mainly as she didn't finish ( 55 marks out of 70 attempted, that's about 80% answered - she doesn't make it easy on herself. This paper aprox equal value with the other two)

So now we have our fingers crossed that she might have done just well enough to get into Swansea to do Zoology (needs 3 B's for this) Does have a back up idea to apply for interesting course ( with some exciting field trips) at Uni of South Wales through clearing ( course was in clearing last year)
But is also talking about possibility of te-taking some of Geography and Biology, thinking she could do some interesting volunteering alongside.
I think some of this talk is the post-exam need to have a workable plan B in mind.
We're both crossing our fingers for that Uni place! ( And incidentally have a shot at it Sheffield hasn't been mentioned for a while now but that's OK as she genuinely like Swansea very much too)

She has also just gone out to buy a tub of chocolate ice-cream to celebrate! - which I look forward to sharing with her ( So perhaps things can't be too bad)

teta · 26/06/2017 14:52

Juggling Dd also ran out of time. She completed all the questions bar the essay and then left the recommended 40 mins for that.Spent 10 minutes planning the essay and managed to write about three topics only.Shes cross.... not upset!
Gas-gate (have not heard back yet but wouldn't surprise me if they empty the hold and find there's nothing there as dh is going doolally) has moved on to Australia-gate.We all have visas for Australia apart from dd1 as she is a Australian citizen by descent ( from dh).Hence they won't give her a Visa and she needs a Aussie passport.Dd is away next week in Majorca and consequently we have just this week and in two weeks time to get a passport otherwise they may not let her board the plane to fly to Australia. If they let her fly we can argue the toss once we get there but there is a strong possibility they won't .
So she's a Australian citizen who isn't allowed to enter Australia bizarrely Confused

goodbyestranger · 26/06/2017 16:14

What subject teta? Just asking because DS who did Biology this morning says he didn't have to write an essay, which slightly concerns me....

JugglingFromHereToThere · 26/06/2017 16:17

I don't think DD had any essays in this morning's Biology exam either goodbye
I think hers was with OCR.

Just lots of smaller questions on bits of everything, a six marker out of a total of 70 marks overall being the biggest from what I heard.

goodbyestranger · 26/06/2017 16:28

Yes DS was OCR too, thanks Juggling. Good, I'd prefer that he hadn't forgotten to do a 40 minute essay!

teta · 26/06/2017 16:49

Sorry, I didn't specify it was the Aqa board.
Was the OCR exam ok?
They reckon that the gradings are low in Biology normally compared to Maths and other Sciences and will be lower than most years this year.

LineyWimey · 26/06/2017 17:13

DS did OCR biology and he does not believe he has been able to achieve an A on these papers. So bye bye university place.

His useless dad's fucked off again, not even in the bloody country.

Juggling, Swansea sounds great, tbh. I'll get DS to look at courses there. He'll likely have BBC or BCC in biology, maths and physics. He has lab work experience.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 26/06/2017 17:30

I'm cross with DH too Liney (not sure if yours is a DH?) as he created some ridiculous family tension by pissing me off with stupid behaviour yesterday afternoon. Then he later said " Oh, does DD have Biology tomorrow, I thought it was on Tuesday" Hint, you could try looking on family calendar sometimes, or just generally not be an arsehole.

Drives you nuts doesn't it? You put so much in and sometimes they put so little.

Anyway (as Ellen would say) DD has virtually finished now, just one general studies to go tomorrow afternoon. So we're getting into a better summer mood. Skates and ice-creams have made an appearance already!

LineyWimey · 26/06/2017 17:37

DS's dad is my ExH, he's serially been through more OW than any of us can keep up with. Left us when DS was only 3. He's never around for anything important.

Juggling, I'd put ants in his pants. It's the only way.

olliepolly · 26/06/2017 17:57

Roller coaster here too. AQA Bio done ,hard, ok ish ,not my best ,was the description. Can't do any more , is it enough , only time will tell.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 26/06/2017 18:00

Thanks Liney, I think DD said some ants had over-run her bean plant recently - so should be easy enough to collect a few!

Glad you like the idea of Swansea for your DS if he's looking for some new ideas. I'm thinking beaches, mountains, forests, and a little Welsh town by the sea immortalised by Dylan Thomas, plus affordable student housing and cost of living, and in the top few for student satisfaction generally ..... what's not to like!

LineyWimey · 26/06/2017 18:56

I've just mentioned Swansea in passing. Thanks for the idea - I think it sounds wonderful. Tbh I'm not sure how taken he was with Warwick anyway.

It's the waiting that's going to be awful. And his crap dad sticking his oar in.

And still physics to come on Thursday ...

ErrolTheDragon · 26/06/2017 19:19

DD said stats was hard but good (apparently some thought it was just hard) but a little while ago said she'd made a stupid mistake on something - she looked embarrassed about it.

Molly499 · 26/06/2017 21:48

Biology done, not as bad as the others and finished now. Results day is going to be shocker I think, the new A levels seemed to have caused so much angst and my dd's friends all feel that they won't achieve their anticipated grades. It's seems so unfair when they've worked so hard, it will be interesting to see how the universities react but I've been warned that the the predicted grades /offer of A* AA won't happen so we'll have to wait and see.

Moved dd to London this afternoon where she will be working all summer. It will be great for her to get her evenings back and just chill a bit. She looks exhausted.
