Did anyone not get their first choice secondary school?

Did you get that?
Are you appealing?
On what grounds?

We may well be in this situation next year, so I'm looking out for any hints or tips.

Roisin - and anyone else - there was a piece in Saturday's Telegraph about agencies that help you with appeals. Seems to be a growth industry I'll see if I can find a link. Of course we wouldn't normally read the Telegraph or anything...

I've heard tonight of a number of children at the school I took dd out of last year who haven't got any of their first three choices! We're in 11 plus land and the only "proper" comp is selective for our area so I understand the problem. Othe popular non-selective is apparently over-subscribed by 300 plus this year. Just glad dd passed 11 plus. Nearest suitable school is 10 miles away btw so we lose out on proximity to school.

Swedishmum - I was wondering about you on Friday. So glad your ds passed - where is he going?

Excellent news - apparently quite a few passed 11 plus but didn't get places at Simon Langton according to a teacher friend. Yes it's a great relief. Roll on next year when I'll be going through it for the 3rd time..... It will be worse actually as ds is dyslexic but v bright and I have no idea where to aim at for him.
