HI, just need a piece of advice. Ds got place at City (music scholarship) and Tiffin. I have not been to Tiffin and not sure how it compares to City facilities wise.. Know that Tiffin is good academicly, but not totally sure on extracurricular... Also atmosphere wise, is it very pushy? Read a comment in the net (from current parent) that they are appalled with admin and some patchie teaching... So confused. The deadline is Monday for City so feel very stressed 😵..Any insight please!! ! Thank you!

The extra 1/2 hr (= 1 hour daily, at least) is material because it is just a waste of time. I know lots of children commute distances but it wouldn't be my choice, esp at Year 7.

But if there's any doubt about meeting school fees, the choice has to be clear. The money saved can be invested in your DS future.

My son is in Year 7 at Tiffin. The teaching has so far been excellent and supportive. The expectations are high, but the atmosphere is not pushy. My son's form tutor is quite simply fantastic.

It's true that Tiffin isn't a sporting haven. Of course it isn't. Entrance is by test performance. So the sporty ones (unless they are also very brainy) don't make the cut.

Tiffin is a state school, and therefore they are restricted by state budget. We don't have bright shiny posh facilities. But there is a very wide range of activities on offer. The music program is amazing. Lots of sports (but not football). A million lunchtime clubs I couldn't even begin to list.

I love the school, and have found most of the negative comments to be simply untrue. I suppose they are rooted in jealousy.

Oh... we are white and we have lots of brown, green, orange, and purple friends. Exactly as it should be. 😃. I'm quite happy for all the racists to go to school elsewhere.

Parents holding city offers for an email saying that the school realised that some people were awaiting other offers and that they were happy to extend their own deadline to accommodate this, asking parents to contact them to tell them when they could commit (later in March) so our school gate have asked for and received extensions until last week or mid march. We assumed this email went to everyone, but if not, perhaps you could ask for an extension? They can only say no, but given others have one I wouldn't have thought they would.

Strix- Thanks for confirmation of what my gut has told me. We are so pleased our DS will be going there in September. Needlefish, look forward possibly meeting you but not knowing who you are on the induction day.

Thanks again for your comments. Visiting the school this morning..
