Is £35 per hour too expensive ?

What is going rate for 11 plus coaching in East London?

Our DS has just turn 9 yrs, we are planning to start his11 plus coaching . After some recommendation and a brief research, we found this online coaching centre, they provide 1 on 1 sessions and charges are £38 per hour. DS did one hour free demo session with the tutor and the tutor was brilliant, However, I thought £38 P/h was too much so after some negotiation they agreed on £35 per hour but I still think its too much for an online coaching?

Unsure if we should go with them or look for other options?

Any help will be much appreciated.

We paid £25 years ago in Manchester so I assume £35 now in London is probably OK.

We paid 20 per hour for a 1 to 2 session last year. So the tutor gets 40 per hour. We are in Manchester.

£55 North London.

That's pretty decent value if the person is a qualified teacher and it's 1:1.
I charge more than that for 50 mins.

Wow £55! What are you receiving for that amount? It must be guaranteed entry surely? I may consider doing it myself.

We paid £40 per hour a few years ago and that was in a run down northern seaside resort! Thought it was expensive, but he was excellent and massively improved my son's confidence. Provided his own materials, set homework, and marked the homework in his own time outside lessons, so in reality, if he spent quarter of an hour doing prep and marking, then it works out at only £32 per hour!
