Thoughts on Bassingbourn Village College and The Knights Templar

We are hopefully moving to Ashwell, Hertfordshire around Easter.. as well as the getting our kids into primary school (6,4,2 yrs) we are in a bit of a panic about secondary. Is Ashwell going to be put in a black hole with the new Bygrave house estate building.. have pupils always gone over the border to Bassingbourn or is this a relatively new thing? Is it the lure of Hills/Long Rd 6th firm college? And anyone got recent experience of The Knights Templar in Baldock? And of course other options? If we completely scrimped and saved, private could be do-able for a bit if their education. But not ideal..

Thanks so much...! Want to make sure we are doing the right thing for our 3 children... and shouldn't be moving to Bishops Stortford or Saffron Walden where we would be in a town with outstanding state secondary schools.

Love Ashwell and want to make it work however!! We have outgrown our house in South East London and so this is rather a scary big move for us... thank you!!

As Cambridge is ever expanding and with companies such as Astra Zeneca coming to town along with a number of families and school aged children I would only assume that Hills/Long Road Catchment areas will get ever smaller so I wouldn't bank on Ashwell being within catchment in the future if that makes a real difference to your search.
