I can't see a problem with moving in year 9. She won't have done any gcse stuff in the first term of year 9. She will have plenty of time to settle and do well in the new school.

Some schools have a three year build up to GCSEs so start in Y9 but these are not so common. As long as the school she is moving to (and it has places) starts GCSEs in Y10 that should be fine.

I moved in that year to a completely different town. Hated it. Did well in my exams but never settled in otherwise. Only Facebook friends with 4/5 from new school but still regularly see friends from original school. Part of me still sad we had to move.
