Year 7 Baseline Testing

Long time lurker, first time poster hoping to benefit from your collective wisdom. DC is in Year 7, it's non selective but academically strong. Has just sat CAT tests for setting.

I am a bit confused about Maths. I know that the old NC levels no longer apply but we were given baseline results on a print out (from CAT testing) and DC scored what looks to be an old NC level. I've searched the test company website to try and understand what this means but I'm struggling to find anything for 2016. It's Alfie Cloud if that helps.

Just want to understand if it equates to NC or if it's something else altogether. It was 6C which sort of makes sense given the year 6 SAT score but I assumed no one used these levels anymore so it could be something entirely different. Just want to try and understand how we can support at home and how progress will be measured from this.

You need to ask the school.
DS's school still uses the old NC levels.
The school down the road has invented its own system.

Sorry, never heard of them. Schools are doing all sorts of things for baselining, including nothing at all in some cases!

You know, there's never anything wrong with asking for clarification about something like that, saves worry, heartache, stress on all sides.

Thanks for the advice, I've contacted the school and had a very helpful reply. They also commented that it was good to see that we're supporting our child academically. So it's reassuring to know that you don't get judged for asking questions! In case it helps anyone else, they told me that whilst NC levels are gone, they still use them internally to track progress.
