Black skater skirt

DD got a black skater skirt for school from New Look for school. It looks nice with black tights, above the knee but not indecent. Trouble is its very thin and flimsy, and not very appropriate in very cold or windy weather when it comes around. Skater is definitely in at least for school, so has anyone found one in better material?

Marks and Spencer have them : www.marksandspencer.com/girls-skater-skirt-with-stormwear/p/p22302184?prevPage=plp&pdpredirect
Their uniform stuff isn't generally too flimsy. Although my DD's school banned skater skirts because of them being too short and too twirly (the girls liked to twirl and show their undergarments apparently).

Sorry meant to say we haven't tried them because of the school ban.

Thanks OLC we'll check M&S out. DD's school has no such rules on style only length and colour - just as well as she loves skaters.
