Just that. Could/should a Year 7 read it?

I would say 14/15 depending on the maturity of the child

Dds English teacher reccomend edit to her last year when she was in year 9.

Actually on Y7 reading list - I have read a plot summary but not the book - it's been a popular choice amongst the kids. All the aspects of sexuality, drugs, suicide, abortion etc I can probably talk through. Sexual abuse of a child is very difficult to approach with a younger secondary but I guess needs to know?

DC wants to read at 11 so that's why I want opinions

I would say Y9 upwards, though I'm sure many younger have read it.

I would not have understood it (I was book smart but not street smart) or been comfortable with it at 11
