Am looking for a non-standard sixth form for very bright DD who is struggling with school anxiety -- at this stage pastoral care and good teaching without huge academic pressure are more important than a school's Oxbridge placements. If outside of London, would need to be a boarding school. All thoughts welcome!

What about one of the Quaker schools?

Sorry to hear that your DD is struggling with school anxiety. For a London option with great pastoral care and friendly feel, consider Francis Holland Regent's Park. (My DD is not yet in 6th form - but loves the school). PM me if you would like a little bit more specific advice about this school.

Although I have no personal experience, my daughter's class mate recently left grammar school for exactly the same reason as you have stated in your op.
She has gone to Bedales.
I hope your dd gets happier soon.
