Juggling I'm so happy Bristol have given her an offer.I really do think it's the very best place for her.I don't want her on a isolated campus for the whole five years. She's in a girls school and most vet students are female now and I really would prefer more of a mixed environment for her.I love Bristol city and the actual vet campus is really pretty. We lived in Bristol when I was little and I remember playing on the Downs and going to school in Somerset. Also the pastoral care seems to be very good.I'm not sure whether they share lectures with the medics.I shall have to ask my sister.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 30/03/2017 07:36

She will love it teta

Best of luck to her and to all for the next few months!

At last we have a diagnosis for DS! After 18 months of GP visits, two private consultants and lots of money, we have found out he has Brucellosis, most likely picked up in Tanzania. I have just looked on NHS Choices and I could have written the page. Looks like a 6 week course of two antibiotics should sort him out. Thank goodness, we are relieved that we have an answer and a solution - best possible outcome.

ErrolTheDragon · 30/03/2017 13:48

Thats good, must be a huge relief to you all. One of those diseases which is fortunately rare in the UK now, though I suppose that can result in slow diagnosis. FIL worked for the Agricultural and Dairy advisory service (civil servant in wellies), he used to lecture us on never drinking unpasteurised milk, having seen too many farmers suffering from brucellosis after doing so.

teta · 30/03/2017 14:09

I'm so glad you have discovered the cause and your poor ds for suffering so long.Did your gp never refer you to a Tropical Disease hospital?I would have thought spending some time in Tanzania would be a red flag for picking up all sorts. My sister picked up bugs in India when travelling as a young medical student and was referred to Liverpool Tropical disease unit.I remember she wasn't allowed to touch patients for over 6 months.

HSMMaCM · 30/03/2017 14:38

Ono that's a relief. Dd seems to have spent more time with doctors than studying the past few years.

That's good news ono, as you say the best possible outcome all being well x

bigTillyMint · 30/03/2017 14:51

That's good news Ono. Shame the go didn't think about Tanzania possible link before now though.

Horsemad · 30/03/2017 17:37

So pleased you have a diagnosis, Ono. Cake and Wine for you. Smile

MirabelleTree · 30/03/2017 17:40

Congratulations to Teta's DD and so relieved Ono that your DS finally has a diagnosis

bebumba · 30/03/2017 19:06

That is good news ono.

namechange7711 · 30/03/2017 19:54

Very glad to hear of Teta's DD's veterinary offer. Such a competitive course, so you must all be delighted for her.

And also such a relief for Ono's DS that you finally know what the problem is and it can be easily treated. Phew! You did the right thing to persist.

teta · 31/03/2017 14:28

Dd's just found out she is still on the Surrey wait list and might not find out until results time whether she has a place. But she has to accept Bristol by a certain date. This means she has to cancel the possible place at Surrey she reckons. However Surrey give out lower offers and if it's possible I would prefer her to stay on the waiting list.Is this possible?Anyone know?

JugglingFromHereToThere · 31/03/2017 23:01

I'd think Surrey and possibly Bristol should be able to advise teta?

Can she put a possible Surrey as an insurance choice?

Horsemad · 01/04/2017 15:07

DS still not firmed, doing it this weekend I think.

Going to need a new thread soon!

HSMMaCM · 01/04/2017 15:20
