Hi

as having just moved back from Canada, my 11 yrs old daughter has been offered a place at Elmgreen secondary school in West Norwood. We have heard mixed things about it, does anyone have anymore recent insight? we have also been offered Carshalton High school for girls, which seems pretty good, but much farther away. Again any insight would be much appreciated.

Thank you in advance for any help.

My niece went to Carshalton girls. It's an ok school but then moved her to glenthorne in Sutton. From What I know from people I know that have kids attended both schools neither are worth travelling miles for so I would go for whichever is nearest for you.

Thank you for your advice. I have heard different things about the two schools, difficult to know really, but your point is certainly valid.

You can compare schools using this www.compare-school-performance.service.gov.uk

Elmgreen has had issues with results in the past but a new head teacher three years ago seems to have really turned things around. I don't have any children at the school but I do know some teaching staff and they find it a highly supportive school.

It has just gone into consultation with Rosendale Primary school in West Dulwich to form a multi academy trust. Strategically this is a huge boost for the school. Rosendale is a highly oversubscribed primary with a middle class demographic.

Go and visit both schools during the school day.
