Nuffield Research projects

A couple of years off yet, but my son's teachers have suggested that he might be a good candidate for applying for a Nuffield project over the summer when he's 17. Anyone got any experience of this program?

From what I understand they match children specialising in the STEM subjects with a 6 week project close to them. Don't think there is any payment involved. Would imagine competition for places to be exceptionally fierce?

Great idea though diffucult to get placed. Only one in seven applicants this year got places as there weren't enough participating institutions.

That's what I'd suspected. He's very keen, but then so would everyone else be who applies.

It is still worthwhile trying if he has the aptitude. He might get lucky.
