Leaving school one week early.

This is a question most overseas boarders want an answer too. If we take our DC out a week early is there any implications apart from missing the end of year speech day?

I was told I am wasting money buying premium airfares. Whilst others leave a week earlier to benfit from cheaper airfares.

At dc school attendance at speech day is compulsory except for y11/13. In practice few miss it. Officially term finishes afterwards although there are often trips departing that afternoon.

DS2's school will not let you leave a week early or even a day early we're told this when they start and every so often we're sent us all an email reminding us of this. I'm reliably told permission to take them out will be politely but firmly refused. One of the best things about it; there is no "end of year speech day".
I know other boarding schools are significantly more flexible.
