Hello everyone, new thread for the final push.

OP posts:
ExitPursuedByBear · 17/06/2016 09:41

DD missed the bus this morning - mind you it did come early Hmm

Hope this isn't a bad omen.

Although the bus broke down yesterday and she thought she was going to be late for Food Tech, so maybe a lift in with Dad today was a good thing.

LAST DAY!!!!!!!!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/06/2016 09:44

absolutely hewl :) though I will be late on that day that shant be mentioned as dd has to go straight from results to her new place for registering. Doesnt seem like the best plan ever made by a college, but hey ho.

Hopefully your dd will be containing her glee at this point.

Party next Friday! Thank goodness dh will do the after prom pick up!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/06/2016 09:45

oh blimey Exit. Thats a slightly traumatic couple of attempts to get to school!

hewl · 17/06/2016 09:46

actually so does dd now I think about it. I've just checked the option blocks to see if she can study what she wants PLUS maths gcse resit!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/06/2016 09:48

It's a bit harsh isnt it! They need time to either be jumping up and down or weeping before going on to the next bit in life. I suppose the positive is, if they just miss their offer then they can at least be put out of their misery nice and quickly.

hewl · 17/06/2016 09:52

yes I am dreading the 20 minute drive to the new place while dd stresses over whether she'll be allowed in or not

argh please god let her have passed maths

needastrongone · 17/06/2016 10:40

Our school bus randomly came 10 minute early too! Caught DD and her mates out, but DS had sauntered up a touch early anyway, thankfully!!

DS found physics fine, he 'gets' physics.

He did say though that this was the sort of paper that he imagines will be split, as he had to think. So, he thought that if you had a physics minded child, then the paper was fine, but it would stump those less inclined. Whereas say, the last Chemistry paper was easy for ALL students. Hope that makes sense!

Said 6 markers were easy, a few trickier questions for fewer marks.

jodee · 17/06/2016 10:56

needastrongone oh dear - my DS is not physics minded Hmm. Haven't seen him yet, there is a celebration on the school field at some point today (weather permitting I guess), so they are all whooping it up as last exam. I have to admit I was emotional taking him to school this morning - last exam, last day of wearing uniform, etc. he's my one and only WineWineChocolate

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/06/2016 10:56

waiting til lunchtime to find out about dds physics.

I'm supposed to be working and failing entirely this morning. What with the news and the exam I cannot focus in the slightest.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/06/2016 10:59

SR say aqa p2 was hard - a lot of calculations.

We are on the count down of ironing dds stupid school skirt (yes I know.....) one more iron and then it can be consigned to the rag heap where it belongs.

FantasyAndHope · 17/06/2016 11:01

Dd said physics was hard and she's lost easy marks. :( so she's unhappy Geography this afternoon.

ExitPursuedByBear · 17/06/2016 11:05

The embarrassing thing is we live at the bus stop! Which probably makes her a bit more blasé about it. I was going to complain to school (my last chance - yay) but remembered that I think they are meant to be at the stop 5 minutes before.

As I have mentioned before, DD's offer from her sixth form is so low that she has probably already achieved it on coursework alone. I am wondering if that is what has caused her to be a bit switched off this week rather than panicking about being tired/stressed.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/06/2016 11:05

Shes nearly there Fantasy.

needastrongone · 17/06/2016 11:21

DS did OCR Physics, btw, if that helps?

flatmouse · 17/06/2016 11:24

Congrats to all those finishing today. Wine
DS just back from OCR B biology paper 2. It was "ok". Struggling a bit as most mates now finished and he has to keep going. Currently refusing to go back in for L6 which is a revision session for chemistry paper 2.

needastrongone · 17/06/2016 11:27

catslife · 17/06/2016 11:45

dd just back from OCR A Physics and seems to think it's gone fairly well (preferred this paper to the Chemistry one).
Can't believe so many dcs are finishing today. dds last exam is Mon 27th June!

ExitPursuedByBear · 17/06/2016 11:59

Text from DD to say she has failed Physics. Really hard papers apparently.

It's a shame as she was averaging A or A* on the past papers she was doing yesterday.

But, onward and upward - that's it for us......

sn0wdr0p4 · 17/06/2016 12:05

DD's last exam and last day of high school today, even though they officially finished last Friday.

I have ironed my last school uniform. I feels quite odd, I have been the mother of at least one school child for 30 years ( eldest DC is 35 ). I was talking to DD this morning about there being a lot of last days recently her answer was yes but there's also going to be a lot of first days.

Thanks for the support everyone Flowers Well done to all DCs and their parents. To those who haven't finished , not long now.

See you all for results day .

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/06/2016 12:12

don't worry cats, I'll keep you company to the bitter end.

Aqa physics was unpleasant according to dd. She thinks she did OK on p2, p3 was better.

NicknameUsed · 17/06/2016 12:12

I think it depends on which exam boards the school uses. DD's school uses edexcel for maths and citizenship, and AQA for everything else. The AQA exams started in mid May. Most of DD's friends finished today, but a couple of them have textiles and health and social care on Tuesday and then that's it.

DD and her friends (including the A* pupils) found AQA physics units 2 and 3 hard today. DD struggles with physics anyway and did loads of revision.

I agree that you have to be physics minded to "get" physics, and DD isn't. She "gets" biology not physics.

NicknameUsed · 17/06/2016 12:14

I usually iron when I have a batch to do. I realised that I ironed far more of DD's school shirts than were required. That's 10 minutes of my life I won't get back Grin

Icouldbeknitting · 17/06/2016 12:34

Edexcel physics was "fine" - no surprises there then. I will be washing the blazer and school specific PE kit over the weekend with a view to having it in the village charity shop on Monday. It's the sixth form taster session in two weeks so he gets to see his mates again then. If I get the battery sorted on my laptop I'll be back to cheer you on next week, if I have to cope with this borrowed ipad then I'll just be reading. Good luck to those of you who still have a way to go to the finish line.

maxtrue · 17/06/2016 12:37

Yippeeee science is over!

Physics was hard!

History on tuesday then its over...let the fun begin!

Seriously I have come to the conclusion that those kids that come out with 13 A/A* are freaks! Grin there's no way anyone can do this....no one we know round here anyway - apols for anyone on here who will Envy

So much stress, so much sad news bad shit happening all around. Just feeling blessed I have happyish healthy kids that are coping with life and hopefully will grow into contended humans that have compassion and empathy for those around them....just feeling sad today Sad

BitOutOfPractice · 17/06/2016 12:38

Aaaaaaaaand relax! We are done.
