Hello everyone, new thread for the final push.

OP posts:

nicknameused dd was like that about history. She is convinced she did badly and is gutted as she wants to take it for A level at her new school.

She desperately wants a new start at her new 6th form and I think really wanted to appear 'clever' Sad which she thinks she won't if she has to retake maths.

She's odd really as she loves the trappings of academia - reading, making notes, doing past papers, testing herself. Then she often does really badly in the actual exams Sad She said she really loves to visualise herself working away on her laptop in her new 6ht form, being 'vibrant and clever' [poignant]

needastrongone · 10/06/2016 10:36

Fingers crossed she settled down Nick, nightmare scenario for you!

Biology went well, says DS. This was the consensus within his cohort too, and that the 6 mark questions were easy.

Day off Monday, History, and 2 sciences next week. A quieter week from 9 this week!

Aw bless her heart. It is such a tough time for them all.

DD is concerned about her sciences as Unit 3 on all of them has been very rushed and having not been tested on it in end of year or mock exams she doesn't feel that it is bedded in. The same with Unit 2 History.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/06/2016 11:01

Will she contact you after Nickname?

Wont hear from dd til she walks in the door around 4:30. Just waiting for studentrooms verdict on the papers now....

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/06/2016 11:04

so b2 was stuff I tested her on yesterday. I had no idea whether she was correct in her answers at the time because I didnt understand a word she said - all I know is that she said a lot of words! Grin

ExitPursuedByBear · 10/06/2016 11:08

Off to collect DD now...........

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/06/2016 11:10

I hope it is a happy pick up Exit!

FantasyAndHope · 10/06/2016 11:16

DD is coming home she's ranging over three easy marks she lost, told her not to worry she read through her textbook and has realised she hasn't done as badly as she thought

needacar · 10/06/2016 11:31

This is Hewl by the way. Not sure why I namechanged for cat advice

needacar · 10/06/2016 11:32

*car!! Oh fgs

Icouldbeknitting · 10/06/2016 11:54

Nicknameused That must have been a nightmare journey for both of you. Did you have to be calm and keeping it all together even though you wanted to cry too?

I think biology will have been fine, DS spent his revision session yesterday buddied up with the Y11 high flier. They were testing each other on biology and DS was awarded the accolade of "you seem to know your stuff". Music should be ok so altogether today should be a good run in to the weekend. Hopefully he will come home all happy and assemble the wardrobe that was delivered this morning.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/06/2016 12:04

I'm making brownies at the moment. Anyone fancy some when they are done? I got the recipe a bit wrong; didn't have enough eggs, had to run out for cocoa half way through and forgot to put the butter in until the end when I realised it appeared to have turned into fudge. But apart from that, I'm sure they will be lovely.

ExitPursuedByBear · 10/06/2016 12:04

DD's verdict was ..

OK

Unit 3 better than Unit 2 apparently. No idea how she has done.

She looks tired.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/06/2016 12:06

is she going to rest up now for the day Exit?

Does anyone know what time I put the brownies in the oven? Confused

swingofthings · 10/06/2016 12:07

Hope your DD was ok nickmame and she managed to clear her head before the start of the exam.

DD just got home, said first exam was very easy, second harder but still fine.

FantasyAndHope · 10/06/2016 12:07

DD missed first train so went to Aldi to buy some of her favourite chicken Hmm and plans to have a McDonald's as she said she's exhausted and is craving crappy junk food and they were her exact words Grin

Icouldbeknitting · 10/06/2016 12:10

You can't under cook brownies but you can overcook them. They are done, take them out.

I am on week three of the new me so I'll just inhale deeply.

Icouldbeknitting · 10/06/2016 12:12

Obviously, you can undercook them but better too squidgy than crisp.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/06/2016 12:15

lol knitting, given the amount of mix I ate before they made it into the oven, you are right!

raspberryrippleicecream · 10/06/2016 12:36

DD had Chemistry this morning. She's texted to say she's home but nothing else. So probably not happy. There are Brownies in the freezer, may text her to take some out

dowhatnow · 10/06/2016 13:09

Biology went "alright I suppose" which doesn't sount too positive but it might be because she is demoralised about biology after the first pissed rats debacle.

jodee · 10/06/2016 13:28

Hello all - I am sooo late to this party, extremely glad there is only one week to go for my DS. After saying he was shit at Biology and the other sciences and why bother, he thought it didn't go too badly after all!

Can I ask a Maths question - DS has sat Foundation Maths and I understand to gain a C (max grade for Foundation) he will need to have scored 144 or above (last year it was 139 I think, cheers exam board). When they get their results in August, will they know the actual marks or will it just be the C, D etc. grade?

catslife · 10/06/2016 14:17

jodee The grade boundaries for this year aren't finalised until after all the papers are marked so the 144 will be provisional. They do receive their UMS marks as well as their grades on results day.
dd said Biology was Very Good. There was a question on Photosynthesis that she was revising yesterday.,
