You have to watch this

Maladicta · 17/05/2016 21:03

Dd showed me that earlier Nickname brilliant!!!

littledrummergirl · 17/05/2016 21:09

I asked Ds1 what revision he had planned this evening for tomorrow's Latin and was told "vocab". He thinks it's the easiest Latin paper as well.

228agreenend · 17/05/2016 21:22

Never thought I would ever ask my son whether he had a biology question about a drunk snail( he didn't)!

I think Tassomai is supposed to be done over a few months, not last minute (like us).

TheSecondOfHerName · 17/05/2016 21:39

I think the length of time needed to do Tassomai must depend on which course. The CIE iGCSE Biology Tassomai course takes the average student 6 months (the founder told us this in an email). DS1 managed to do over half of it in 6 weeks but that was a LOT of work. I think some of the other courses might be shorter.

NorbertDentressangle · 17/05/2016 21:56

DD was highly amused by this Inbetweeners clip that she saw on Twitter earlier. She reckons it sums her up perfectly. Smile

NicknameUsed · 17/05/2016 22:08

What's CIE? Is it an exam board? And why are some students doing IGCSE instead of GCSE?

TheSecondOfHerName · 17/05/2016 22:15

What's CIE? Is it an exam board?
CIE stands for Cambridge International Examinations.

And why are some students doing IGCSE instead of GCSE?
Because each school can choose which exam board & specification to use for each subject. Some schools prefer iGCSEs. DS1 is doing a mixture of both.

starfleet · 17/05/2016 22:19

Littledrummer - he said he isn't too worried about the Latin vocab it's the Prose and Literature that is stressing him out for next week.

Although he does relatively well in both he made a massive boob in his Latin P&L mock and with the questions being weighted quite heavily he dropped a huge chunk of marks - his teacher is convinced he won't make the same mistake again!

FantasyAndHope · 17/05/2016 22:20

nick
DDs school is private they choose to do igcse as they have longer holidays so can't spend time doing controlled assessments and Most Igcses don't have controlled assessments they may have coursework but not controlled assessments so they content can be harder in the exam.

ExitPursuedByABear · 17/05/2016 22:22

Can't see the link posted earlier but was it the Hitler spoof? Very funny.

Dd has Latin tomorrow

ExitPursuedByABear · 17/05/2016 22:23

Lol.

ExitPursuedByABear · 17/05/2016 22:25

Dd says the Latin tomorrow is the easier one.

Latin. Easy. Snort.

FantasyAndHope · 17/05/2016 22:33

Some of DDs friends did the aqa biology paper that everyone is moaning about and they said it was awful, DD is wondering what has happened to aqa as the front of her igcse paper was different and the layout was different inside

YippeeTeenager · 17/05/2016 22:39

Latin here tomorrow too. IGCSE Biology today was OK apparently, slightly strange question about why it's not a good idea to rely on avoiding sex at certain times of the month to ensure you don't get pregnant (which DD said was more like a PSHE question) and another one about CO2 emissions which was geography based, otherwise no dreadful surprises.

TheSecondOfHerName · 17/05/2016 22:51

Good luck to those doing Latin tomorrow. DS1 is doing Latin with WJEC. He did the Core language paper in Y10, and the Additional language paper is after half term.

EllenJanethickerknickers · 17/05/2016 23:16

Found you all again. I'll get a look at the (drunk rats and teens) AQA Biology B1 paper tomorrow at work. DS2 did core science last year so hasn't any science exams til after half term.

His first 2 exams are tomorrow, ICT then RE. He is totally relaxed, just did an hour revision tonight, as per usual. I have no idea if it's enough but it's as much as he'll do.

I hope the stress isn't getting to everyone too much and all poorly ones are feeling better.

Nyama · 18/05/2016 06:54

Oh god dd thought aqa biology went really well until she read on Twitter how hard it was. She said the 6 marker was super easy, about diet.

NicknameUsed · 18/05/2016 06:59

It's in most of the papers today.

Iwantacampervan · 18/05/2016 07:16

My daughter thought that she had done OK with the Biology (also AQA) until her friends said how hard it was ! Latin this morning.

littledrummergirl · 18/05/2016 07:17

Starfleet, that sounds like ds1. Just waiting for him to get up so we can head out of the house.

We looked at the unofficial mark scheme on tsr last night for the biology and he thinks he did ok so he was much happier when he went to bed. Smile

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/05/2016 07:25

I think we are putting the biology paper firmly in the 'lets not think about it again' pile. I suspect dd did fine, its just that some of the questions were so ambiguous that she had no idea what they were looking for.

mummymeister · 18/05/2016 08:05

ICT this morning which DC wasn't worried about at all until yesterday night when apparently because the Biology paper was so "off the wall" with its questions DC thinks the ICT one will be as well. Have just said that we draw a line and move on - and a few sporting analogies. one of my other DC has mechanics A level today - such a happy trip to the train station this morning.

ExitPursuedByABear · 18/05/2016 08:19

I was going to take DD in but she decided to get the bus as her friend who also does Latin would be on so they could have a last minute revise.

I served a suitably Italian dish for tea last evening to get her firmly in the mood. (Aubergine Parmigiani since you ask)

ShanghaiDiva · 18/05/2016 08:31

Good work on the Italian dish Exit - hope DD appreciated that :)
CIE ICT theory for DS today and that will be two subjects finished - yay- only 9 more exams to go.
