Twitter is quite funny about AQA Biology.

FantasyAndHope · 17/05/2016 17:43

DD is on study leave but they can study in school and it will be supervised but DD said it is chaos

NicknameUsed · 17/05/2016 18:00

I'm surprised about some students finding AQA biology easy. DD has been predicted an A* and found it difficult. There was very little that was on the syllabus and she had to guess at answers about drunk rats, alcoholic 15 year olds, stripey snails and horse feet.

She has done tons of revision for this as well.

She has been reading out all the tweets to me.

FantasyAndHope · 17/05/2016 18:05

Oh dear nick
DD did aqa igcse biology double science higher tier and said it was more how science works than knowledge which should be paper2 not paper1
And Igcse edexcel French the middle of the paper was tough and that is unusual
DD said exam layouts are going a bit strange

Mysillydog · 17/05/2016 18:08

Dd did the snail and underage drinking exam. She found it quite hard.

FantasyAndHope · 17/05/2016 18:16

DD said her exam paper in biology wasn't too bad but it wasn't very knowledge base. And the layout of the exam has changed, hoping someone else's DC is igcse is aqa double award higher tier to find out how they found it

CaroleService · 17/05/2016 18:24

DS is in Yr 10. Can I ask the Tassomai fans, at what point it would be best to sign him up? Christmas?

Thank you!

NicknameUsed · 17/05/2016 18:25

Hopefully DD will make up marks on papers 2 and 3 in June.

swingofthings · 17/05/2016 18:33

DD said that few of the questions on AQA Biology were part of the syllabus they studied and practiced the most. She said that it tested her thinking through the questions rather than her memory.

NicknameUsed · 17/05/2016 18:48

That isn't any good for DD. She prefers to deal with hard facts. Her mind doesn't work very well with topics that she is expected to have general knowledge about. She never watches the news and is completely unaware of anything topical.

fayebebaby · 17/05/2016 18:48

DS said the biology was good though he struggled with a couple of questions but both were only 1 mark questions so he`s quite happy. RS paper 2 tomorrow than Chemistry and Spanish thurs frid

navylily · 17/05/2016 19:15

nickname - that sounds similar to my DSD. She isn't good outside her comfort zone really and hated today's igcse biology exam. Said it was full of stuff not on the syllabus. Though to be fair she's done precious little revision so I'm not entirely sure she really knows what is in the syllabus. Told her it's all over now though and if everyone found it hard, then the pass mark will be lower. She thought French was OK. She's whacked now though so I've sent her for a bath and early night. DS also seems exhausted after just one exam. I'm hoping he gets into the swing of things by next week when he has exams every day.

Carole You pay by the month with Tassomai so I wouldn't sign up too soon. DS started at Easter and I think that's been about right. Also sign up for one course at a time as that's cheaper than having lots on the go at once.

swingofthings · 17/05/2016 19:24

The twitter page did make me laugh!

CaroleService · 17/05/2016 19:32

Thanks Navy

derektheladyhamster · 17/05/2016 19:32

'I think it went fine' was ds's response to the igcse biology (edexcel, sorry!)
I have no idea how much revision, sleep or food he is eating and I'm finding the lack of control very difficult, but no migraines so far, although ds is due one any day now....

needastrongone · 17/05/2016 19:40

Slinks in.........

Ok, DS did OCR Biology, not AQA, which shows what I know...

He said the hardest question was about Ebola, but not mega hard, so not too worried.

HesMyLobster · 17/05/2016 19:44

Have only seen DD briefly between after school revision sessions and dance class, but she seemed upbeat and pleased with how French went. So glad she's had a positive start. No more exams now til English on Monday.

She seems better too so hoping whatever she seemed to be coming down with last night has been shaken off before it got started.

Study leave starts on Friday, think she's looking forward to having more control over her revision.

Well done to all dcs for getting through another day!

marmiteloversunite · 17/05/2016 19:54

Glad she is feeling better Lobster!
Just happy the first day is done.

boys3 · 17/05/2016 20:11

well done to all for getting through today - and to the DCs too :)

Ds2 a lot calmer now things have started, and seems the bacon sarnie for breakfast lifted spirits no end. He is a less than natural linguist, but found today's French ok; and Biology elicited the text "done good". Not sure if that bodes well for the English Language paper. However he is quite positive after today and feels that bacon is clearly a lucky breakfast and needs to continue. Fine by me.

EP tomorrow and Chemistry on Thursday and that is it for this week. Next week a heavier schedule though. Study leaves starts just before half term.

FantasyAndHope · 17/05/2016 20:27

fid
That's gcse biology not igcseSmile
Next exam for DD is Thursday igcse chemistry

Icouldbeknitting · 17/05/2016 20:37

We are now a committed sausage sandwich household. It does involve me getting out of bed a bit earlier and planning ahead to have fully thawed sausages but it's not every day.

starfleet · 17/05/2016 20:42

DS on his Biology Unit 1 (AQA) paper today - "I answered the questions and I checked the answers. I won't even try to guess how I've done".

One down and 21 to go! Latin in the morning - he said this is the "easier"'one.

2sugarsandadog · 17/05/2016 20:51

Am doing a little dance as the sad, forlorn girl I came back from work is now her normal chipper self as she has watched all the aqa biology hiatus unravel Grin

marmiteloversunite · 17/05/2016 21:01

Latin for us too tomorrow. 4 papers for Latin seems tough. At least it will be finished by half term.
