Year 7 and year 4 moving from US

Hi,
Would appreciate some suggestions for my friends who are relocating from US this summer whose girls will be year 7 and 4 in September. Dad will be based near Trafalgar Square so somewhere SW London based seems a good place to start (and we we in Surrey so near me good... Lol, Mum mentioned Fulham... I wondered Wimbledon?). They will be here for 2 years so I was wondering if there were any Preps that go to 13 that people might suggest. I know it is less usual for girls... And both mine moved at 11 so not really looked into it.

Any places to start welcomed.... Must admit I did gulp a bit when I worked out the eldest was going into year 7 as that must be year group most likely to be 'full'

Newton Prep would be a good place to start. Good train links so Wimbledon would work. Fulham Prep?

With two girls have a look at the high schools - Wimbledon and Putney. Should have junior school and senior they could 'slot' into... Maybe the yr7 would be better starting with lots of other yr7s in fresh new school than being the 'odd' one??

Do you think schools like Putney and Wimbledon will be willing to look at Year 7 starters when they have a long waitlist? My eldest is at SWPS where I know this does happen... Get the sense the family want to be a bit more central than leafy Surrey for their 2 year stint or would be suggesting SWPS and Rowan as a tried and tested formula!! Will look at prep schools suggested... Thanks!

I would doubt there was any practical chance of getting a year 7 place at a girls senior school. At the prep schools however there are spaces which open up for year 7. I would contact Fulham prep, Thomas's Fulham, Thomas's Battersea and Newton prep as soon as possible.

Thomas' Fulham stops at 11. However Thomas' Clapham and Battersea go through to 13. Newton and the Thomas' will have a bit of a different feel. Newton is probably a bit more diverse and more likely to be open to taking children new to the UK. Eaton Square would be another option. Very central, so little outdoor space but popular with Expats. Or Hill House.

If they're only going to stay for two years, wouldn't they be better off looking at Ametican/international schools? Especially for the older girl it seems a bit pointless to spend years 7 and 8 cramming for Common Entrance if she doesn't need to?

American...

I don't know if this is too central, but Knightsbridge school often have places in year 7 (or at least they have on the occasions I've spoken to them about it.)
