Just wondering how much revision per topic is 'standard'. DD still getting homework, so revision is on top. It just all seems a lot to do at the moment!

DS @ a grammar school. Y7 tests are done and dusted now; English, Maths Calculator & Non-calculator, Biology, Modern Language, Physics, Chemistry & RE. The results will be part of Students' Annual Reviews and help teachers set up groups on ability for Maths, English & Science in Y8 . We were given information and guidance about the tests at the beginning of September. DS said that the tests were easier than he expected.

My DDs' school has exams at the end of every year up to and including Yr9 - not Yr 10 and 11 because they are into GCSE territory by that time. In addition they have tests at the end of every half term. DD2 will have exams in mid- and late June. She is used to revision for her half termly test and doesn't stress about it, the school has a similar attitude to Random's.

DD2 still gets quite a lot of homework as well. She struggled at the start of this year (Yr8) but is much more proactive and independent about homework and studying now, so it's clearly working.

At our school we call them end of your tests as they aren't really as extreme but basically the same thing.
I think they have one in most subjects apart from psme and pe.
The whole point of them at out school is to see what they need to go over in the last term before yr8 and also helps put them insets for next years. But it doesn't count for much as they do assessment thought the year and mark their work.
Ours are told either to not revise or just to do a little -don't get stressed or worried

In secondary school year 7 what is 1+ score means in maths exams?
This is passing score,is that good score or not?

TeenTimesTwo · 28/06/2019 14:58

Marina I doubt that anyone can tell you except the school.

For what it's worth, it sounds like a made up GCSE grade, which going on increasing by 1 grade per year, would lead to a 5+ at GCSE. But who knows?

Can you ask your child the 'grade range' in the set/class?

Marina80 · 28/06/2019 15:22

I really got no idea. What grade rate as well no idea. Not even my child. I think it is complicated.I just want to found out if passing score maths 1+ is good or not for year 7.
Thank you

I think you need to contact the school.
