Central or West London independent schools (girls/mixed)

Hello

We live in North London at present and I'd been thinking about North London Collegiate, City, Highgate, possibly Channing for my daughter (bright all-rounder). (She's currently only 8 so plenty of time in hand.)

My other half last night mentioned that he'd rather live more centrally, possibly west (Fulham/Chelsea?) I'd like this too. May not happen, of course, but I just wondered what independent schools people would suggest that are equivalent to the above (which I realise a completely mixed bag!) I have a slight preference for single sex. Somewhere academic but supportive and fun.

As I say, the move is all a bit theoretical at the moment but I really like it as an idea so keen to get my head round schools.

There is a saturation of independent schools accessible from Fulham and Chelsea tbh. Mixed would give you Latymer Upper, Harrodian, Emanuel. Single sex you could still have City on the list and add in Putney, Wimbledon and Notting Hill & Ealing GDST schools, Godolphin & Latymer, Frances Holland, Queens, St Paul's Girls. All reachable by public transport.

That should give you a few to start looking at and there are several not on this list. Kids travel further to get to secondary school so any of those are within a reasonable commute. Possibly worth getting hold of the Good Schools Guide and looking through then doing some internet grunt work. There is also the annual independent schools show in Battersea Park where they all set up shop. It's in November this year.

Agree with that list as being typical choices. Girls from our chelsea primary also went to jags and alleyns on the buses which head off that way
