Shock re Twitter. Some real wit displayed there, though.

Sorry to hear AQA was bad too, Arfur.

ArfurFacksake · 18/05/2016 21:51

FFS the exam board was Edexcel not AQA pass the Wine

Horsemad · 18/05/2016 22:53

DS hasn't said much about today, think his head was whirling tbh.

bigTillyMint · 19/05/2016 06:52

So sorry to hear the Maths was bad - hopefully it means the grade boundaries will be lower

Auntpetunia2015 · 19/05/2016 07:27

Media here today. He's been up since 6 rereading his notes. Good luck everyone today.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 19/05/2016 07:42

Good luck Aunt Petunia's DS.

No exams here today, but a busy day anyway with second Art sketch book in for tomorrow and 2nd Geog exam (also tomorrow - Geog skills, so needs to remember all the details from her recent field trip so I understand)

Also busy for me as I have my counselling course this evening and some homework of my own to get done for that.

Hopefully both working on our studies at home today will work out OK. But I'm nervous for DD with the tricky balance between the somewhat endless Art sketch-book work, and revising her Geography stuff Confused

We are also (DH and I) going to a funeral tomorrow with quite a long trip for that. I could possibly not go but would be good to see people there?
I will see how DD seems to be coping with everything.

bigTillyMint · 19/05/2016 07:56

Good Luck to your DS, AuntP!

Fairenuff · 19/05/2016 08:14

Media today for ds too and history this afternoon. Sad to hear that the maths was so difficult. I know that the grade boundary might be lower but it doesn't help their confidence or stress levels!

GetAHaircutCarl · 19/05/2016 08:30

Good luck to everyone today.

Another study leave day here and I'm working from home.

Abraid2 · 19/05/2016 08:38

My DD's school doesn't give study leave, other than the morning off if it's an afternoon AS level. I think they are relishing having the extra teaching time compared for the reformed A levels, which I can understand, but it would be good to have a bit more time for revision, too.

SugarPlumTree · 19/05/2016 12:59

Sorry to hear the Maths was hard . Hope today goes well for them all.

Auntpetunia2015 · 19/05/2016 15:19

Well media has been declared brilliant best paper ever. And he "wrote 11 pages" he did clarify that sir wrote 11 pages and not him

bigTillyMint · 19/05/2016 15:25

AuntP, that is greatFlowers Fingers crossed the marker thinks the sameWink

Auntpetunia2015 · 19/05/2016 16:05

Exactly BTM!!

dingit · 19/05/2016 18:47

Dd in tears tonight over something she can't do on a practice maths paper, the C1 paper has knocked her confidence for six. She's also panicking a s her hair is falling out Sad

LittlehumHams · 19/05/2016 19:11

Oh dear dingit. The only thing you can do is emphasise that a LOT of other students are feeling exactly the same so it is just a case of staying calm and attempting the bits she can do.

The hair loss sounds stress related. Has she ever suffered from this before?

bigTillyMint · 19/05/2016 19:46

Oh poor DD, dingitSad

My own DD is panicking about the Eng Lit tomorrow.

ono40 · 19/05/2016 20:20

Oh no dingit what a shame, the hair loss does sound stress related but it could just be a summer moult (I get this).

I spoke to head of sixth form today about DS's illness and he said if we get a doctor's note they will apply for special circumstances if he is ill during the AS which means he could get a rest break.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 19/05/2016 22:01

Are most people finding the AS experience more challenging than last year's GCSE's because so far it seems so here?
Ah well, will be glad when we're through tomorrow with second Geog paper and all Art sketch books finally handed in.
Then a 4 day "break"/ study leave before the next run of exams here from Wednesday - Friday.
Then half-term break!
And only a few, nicely spaced, after that.
Phew (but not quite yet!)

Hope tomorrow morning goes OK with getting them both into school earlyish before setting off on longish trip for funeral (DH's Auntie - hopefully will be good to catch up with some of the family, though clearly a sad occasion especially for some)

Hoping we can get there and back without too much stress and DD copes OK with her day. Thinking maybe just as well for her to be in school where maybe Art teachers and friends can offer some support?)

TeenAndTween · 19/05/2016 22:13

Are most people finding the AS experience more challenging than last year's GCSE's

YES.

DD doesn't have to be in college before her exam on Tuesday.
She has left the folder for the subject in her locker at college.
Via college transport this is an hour each way.
Via taxi of Dad it is minimum 1hour round trip.

Big arguments.

This used to happen at school too, but it was only 5 minutes away.

May I hibernate until August please?

JugglingFromHereToThere · 19/05/2016 22:24

Oh no, T&T

We're only ten mins from school or half an hours walk - both of which have come in very handy sometimes Hmm < eye roll/eyebrow raise >

PurpleAlerts · 19/05/2016 23:18

DD resigned to the Geog exam tomorrow- feels it's a bit of a waste of time now as the main paper on Monday was worth 70% of the overall grade and as she thinks she has failed it miserably the 30% from tomorrow's won't be worth much...

Hopefully Music and Psychology2 on Monday will go better. She is now terrified that she won't get high enough grades at AS to continue at her school- they have very strict grade requirements to continue to A2... it happened to one of her friends last year who had to transfer to another school for year 13 and she has been utterly miserable.

Seems so unfair- she has worked so hard but Geog and Psych now have no course work so it's a make or break exam. Seems so brutal.

bigTillyMint · 20/05/2016 07:22

Sympathies to all those finding this difficult - teens and parentsFlowers

DD had a big panic about the Eng Lit (this morning) last night - said she had no idea how to revise the 15 poemsConfused I have offered her a lift in this morning and predict a meltdown on the way/at school. However, this is her first big wobble, so MUCH better than it was for GCSES (but I can't see how it could have been much worse thenGrin)

dingit · 20/05/2016 08:21

It seems much tougher than when we were teens. Our poor dc.
