Aargh...DS has woken up with a sore throat. I could set my watch by it - exactly 21 days since the last one and exactly 21 days since the one before that!! It is NOT normal. So we have another weekend of fever and chills in store. Heaven knows whether he will manage any revision. And yes, in 21 days time it will be the weekend before AS exam Angry

bigTillyMint · 14/05/2016 13:30

Faire/HSM, tomorrow?Shock Grin

Whatam - tis you incognito?!

Ono, did the doc not come up with any reason? So weird that it is every 21 daysConfused

DD is at the library with her mates. As there is currently a drama going on, I imagine there is more gossiping/ranting/whatever than work going onConfused

HSMMaCM · 14/05/2016 14:01

Btm- today is Saturday, not Sunday? Grin

Why didn't anyone tell me ?

OP posts:
Auntpetunia2015 · 14/05/2016 17:20

Oops yes btm me..... didn't realise it hadn't chaged name back

OddBoots · 14/05/2016 20:24

I am sat watching Eurovision with DS, I am not sure what he is making of it, I don't dare ask or he might go away.

Ds has his first exam on Wednesday, they seem to be quite well spaced so we are very lucky.

We have only just realised that his college breaks up 2 weeks before the schools break up for summer so he is in contact with his old school to do some work experience in the IT department there, he had a good relationship with the IT team there so hopefully it will come to something.

He went to a taster day at City and is quite taken with the place, he has open days at UCL and KCL coming up after the exams so more to think about - he is fixed on London, we live close so he could commute.

Oh Ono40, that is not good, are they keeping a close eye on his white blood cell count? Have they mentioned cyclic neutropenia as something they are looking at?

LittlehumHams · 14/05/2016 22:42

Watching Eurovision too. Star Star Star Also celebrating a certain somebodies birthday. Stuff exams.

Hope your ds gets to the bottom of his illness Ono.

TeenAndTween · 15/05/2016 13:57

Anyone got any ideas on Spanish revision which isn't doing past papers?
She's been through her Grammar, and thinks she knows her vocab.

Is there anything that could be more effective for the next week, or just relieve the boredom?

I'm not looking for ideas to get to A* , more D/E ones Smile

ChipInTheSugar · 15/05/2016 14:24

Just jumping in for support! DD has exams Mon, Tues and Weds, and the same next week. She's worrying over the new structure - but what will be will be. Everyone will be in the same boat I guess!

HSMMaCM · 15/05/2016 14:42

T&T sorry no ideas. DD is working her last day in her first job today. I made her google how to write a letter of resignation, because I thought she might give up on the idea Grin.

I think she wants to spend Sundays sleeping studying.

bigTillyMint · 15/05/2016 17:26

Oddboots, that's good - re work experience and open days. DD breaks up 3 1/2 weeks before the rest of usShock

T&T, no idea really, but DS's teacher has them doing stuff for GCSE French online - is there anything like that?

DD is rather on-edge.

HSMMaCM · 15/05/2016 17:59

DD just asked "are you sure my exam tomorrow is in the afternoon and not the morning". We had another look at the timetable stuck to the fridge. Oh no, I'm sure she's not nervous Grin

OP posts:
ChipInTheSugar · 15/05/2016 19:00

T&T - has your DD looked at gojimo?

TeenAndTween · 15/05/2016 20:24

Chip No idea, I'll ask her. Thank you.

HSMMaCM · 15/05/2016 20:40

After weeks of sleeping revising DD has just realised she needs pens for tomorrow. I'll just magic some out of nowhere now the shops have shut now then !

OP posts:
bigTillyMint · 15/05/2016 20:43

HSM, I just remembered about the clear pencil cases and stuff so they both have what they need though it was touch snd go finding a sharpener for the pencils!

DD is panicking. Not looking forward to tomorrow morning.

Fairenuff · 15/05/2016 23:14

Ds needed a calculator and the only one we could find was one of those huge ones with giant buttons Grin

JugglingFromHereToThere · 16/05/2016 07:14

Thanks for reminder about pencil case and contents - I'll ask DD if she's OK on that as has study leave today (of one whole day!) before Geog AS starts tomorrow. Good too to be reminded that they are their exams, we can't do them for them! Probably just as well really as weird to think DD will make a much better stab at them than I would now!

GetAHaircutCarl · 16/05/2016 07:15

Hope all the DC slept well.

Bacon sandwiches have been provided for the troops here in Casa Carl. And passports Hmm. Apparently the ID cards issued by school have been lost/never collected/ eaten.

SugarPlumTree · 16/05/2016 07:29

Good luck to all those sitting exams this morning. Hope they go well.

bigTillyMint · 16/05/2016 07:31

PassportsShock

DD is very anxious. Think I may be taking her in (15min walk!)

HSMMaCM · 16/05/2016 08:07

DD's year were told to take in their ID badges and most confessed they were binned the day they got them.

She didn't eat breakfast, but has been instructed to eat and drink junk at lunchtime. I have taken my rescue remedy. Hope I haven't forgotten anything.

Read the back page kids in case there's another question.

OP posts:
Fairenuff · 16/05/2016 08:15

I've just asked ds if he has an ID badge (yes) and reminded him to check the back page Grin

Thanks Flowers

Good luck to everyone today and the rest of the exam season.

TeenAndTween · 16/05/2016 08:30

DD has to take in ID badge and copy of exam entry.
At her college, ID badges have to be worn on lanyards so they should all have them.

namechange7711 · 16/05/2016 10:29

DS2 has his first ever GCSE exam this morning. And at the same time, in the same hall, DS1 is doing an AS exam. So what am I doing on my day off?? Pacing the house, like an absolute loon!! Blush

DS1 was still revising at 2:30am. At 3am I went into his room to tell him to stop, only to discover he had fallen asleep on his bed, lights on, fully clothed, with headphones still in his ears blaring out music. He has AS exams on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday this week. It's going to be a very long week.

LittlehumHams · 16/05/2016 10:51

Nightmare start to the week for some of them. Good luck to them all.

dd3 has a nice gentle start with just one exam this week and it is her favourite.

I always remind them to check the back page and tend to get this look Hmm in response. Can't help myself though.
