Here we are everyone.

T&T, same at DD's sixth form. They are not allowed in if the aren't wearing them!

Namechange, DS has his first ever GCSE too!

Littlehum, your DD3 has a favourite? Mine hates them allGrin

LittlehumHams · 16/05/2016 11:04

Yes. Pure Maths (Core 1). She would do pure maths for enjoyment which is weird because I hated maths at school. Takes after dh.

It all goes downhill next week with music essays though. Loves other elements of music but essays are torture.

My ds had an early exam last week. Never ending this exam business.

ono40 · 16/05/2016 11:17

Good luck to all the DCs doing exams today. Heavens, I'd forgotten all the clear pencil case and water bottle with no label malarkey until they sent us the regulations on Friday, makes it all seem so scary.

DS has History tomorrow, 2.5 hours and then English on Wed, nothing more until the following week. He has been up this morning watching Game of Thrones revising in between bouts of fever. I am trying to keep it controlled with ibuprofen and paracetamol regularly but without overdosing him. Oddboots, yes I think it is cyclic neutropenia or similar so when this week's exams are out of the way I am going to the GP to ask for a private referral to a haematologist. His friend has glandular fever but that isnt' cyclical.

TeenAndTween · 16/05/2016 11:42

I've just had a letter about Child Benefit.
Even if you said they were doing a 2 year course, CB default is to stop the benefit after 1 year, and then you have to tell them all over again for the second year.
Be warned.

namechange7711 · 16/05/2016 11:49

Oh dear ono that sounds really rough for your DS. It's dragged on for a long time hasn't it? Hope he's able to keep his spirits up, regardless.

GetAHaircutCarl · 16/05/2016 11:53

DC home after their exams.

DD said her first essay was a 'shit show' - technical term, but the second went okay. So that's drama done and dusted.

DS said economics was weird. Lots of mainstream stuff didn't come up at all and some large mark questions on minority areas of the syllabus. A real test of who did their revision!

Bumperstickers · 16/05/2016 12:34

Dd's first AS exam this morning. Drama. Said it was pretty bad and she is :( as its her best subject. Never mind. I feel bad for her.

GetAHaircutCarl · 16/05/2016 12:42

bumper hopefully she will have banked some good marks from the practical to balance it out.

Moetandchandon · 16/05/2016 12:51

Thanks Getahaircut. She did brilliantly in the practical but was hoping for at least a B overall. She's fab at the performance but not good at the written side. But you never know.

bigTillyMint · 16/05/2016 12:55

Ono, your DS is a real trouper - poor thing.

Oh no Haircut! DD does Eco too - I hope it didn't throw her as she has Psych this afternoon which she was really worrying about.

Moetandchandon · 16/05/2016 12:56

Sorry. Crossed wires. You weren't talking to me Get. Different thread and my heads up my arse! But Bumper dd is in the same situation so if everyone felt the same maybe the grade boundaries might be lower. I'm trying to keep positive.

GetAHaircutCarl · 16/05/2016 13:04

BTM might not be the same board of course. And there's always the distinct possibility that DS is taking shite!

HSMMaCM · 16/05/2016 13:10

I reminded DD not to write on her hands and arms this morning as she might be accused of cheating this afternoon.

Not quite sure why they feel the need to draw on themselves and each other at this age, but they do.

HSMMaCM · 16/05/2016 16:27

Psychology was "meh" apparently. Upon further investigation, "maybe a D or an E" but apparently the other paper is her "worst". We'll see Smile.

namechange7711 · 16/05/2016 17:33

I have just removed 17 empty energy drink cans from DS' room! They weren't there 3 days ago. Shock

bigTillyMint · 16/05/2016 17:48

So is that good or bad for today, HSM?
DD did Psych but is now asleep#noempty energy cans here Grin

Auntpetunia2015 · 16/05/2016 17:56

Well psychology was ok apparently but not helped by the senco assistant getting him to do a fit for a scribe test just before the exam!!! What, why? I'll be ringing school tomorrow to find out what that was all about .. he's had a scribe since year 6

HSMMaCM · 16/05/2016 17:59

I'm happy. DD and dh less so.

We found an empty energy drink stash in her room the other day. Maybe it's a 'thing'.

OP posts:
Bumperstickers · 16/05/2016 19:34

I'm trying to keep positive also. Apparently a lot of dds class felt the same as her and didn't do the required number of questions or quotes or whatever it was. Seems they ran out of time.
I thought GCSEs were bad but this year is even worse. Don't know how I'll cope with the full A levels next year. Time for Wine I think Blush.

LittleHouseOnTheShelf · 16/05/2016 20:06

DS did psychology, he said the stuff he was hoping to come up didn't but that it was stuff he had revised. Not sure what to make of that TBH. He's now in his room eating pizza having declined to eat with the rest of us and is then going to bed apparently.

bigTillyMint · 16/05/2016 21:35

LittleHouse, that sounds quite positive - at least he had revised it.

DD said the exams were "peak"
2 down, 6 to go!

LittleHouseOnTheShelf · 17/05/2016 02:55

That's true, and he's revised for sociology so bonus.
Not sure the same can be said for chemistry.

Auntpetunia2015 · 17/05/2016 07:23

Ds and friends adamant psychology ok so fingers crossed. Thankfully no exam leave here so back in to school for normal lessons. Next exam is Thursday and is media.

bigTillyMint · 17/05/2016 07:55

Aunt P, that's great he thought psych was OK. DD seems relatively upbeat, so I am thinking it couldn't have been all that bad?!

No exam leave here either, but DD is not going in - she revises much better under her own steam as some of the teachers just make her feel way more anxious and then she can't focus... She has the dreaded History tomorrow (because of the teacher...)

Eve · 17/05/2016 07:55

DS had his 1st use of maths paper, said questions were ones he had revised but with a comment yo catch you out which he spotted, so he's happy. 2nd paper today.

Friends DD did psychology and said on the 12 point question asking for all the different research, they had only been taught 1, much upset there.
