RE Short course advice please

My son (Y11) had his mock results just before half term and they weren't good, however, he got his highest grade - C - in RE.

Unfortunately, he has had to drop it now because he needs intervention in maths to try and get him to a C, so he's having extra maths lessons in place of RE. There isn't much more of the RE course left to learn, then it's revision.

Spoke to RE teacher at parents' evening, she said she would support him if he wanted to try for the exam (I have to check with deputy head if this is an option anyway). I can't get a definitive answer from the colleges we have applied for to say if half a GCSE counts towards the number he needs for his (vocational) college course.

Any thoughts please? DS is going to have to put in a lot of work to get his grades up for summer exams, he has enjoyed RE but not sure whether to push for him to take it or not.

Getting maths (and English) GCSE grade C is the most important. If you dont get that an RE grade C will be irrelevant.

Thank you Bolognese - I do want him to do the best that he can at Eng and Maths. He can get on his course with Ds, but will have to retake to get the C anyway.
