What is a "wand" that a school might use on a potentially aggressive pupil?

Just curious really.

Dd went to tell the HOY today that someone in her class was bringing a big pair of kitchen scissors into school every day. This is someone who is quite violent and is always threatening to stab/kill other pupils.

HoY apparantly got quite excited and picked up the phone and told someone they needed to get X straight away and that they'd have to take a wand as there was an offensive weapon.

Dd does not go to Hogwarts and my mind is boggling.

One of those metal detectors?

Not as exciting as I was imagining.

I know children can be prone to exaggeration, but if their was a child in my dcs school who was always threatening to stab, kill someone I would removing my child until that child was removed permanently!

Dd isn't exaggerting. The police have been involved because the social media messages from this girl to dd's best friend were so bad. Her mum called the police. No idea what the police have done, probably given the girl a good talking to.

Dd went to see the hoy last week to say how worried she was because this girl sits there in lessons muttering "die, die, I'm going to kill you all".... While cutting up paper with her scissors infront of all the teachers who according to dd have seen the scissors and done nothing!

Oh and she plays that Slenderman computer game as well which was implicated in the case in America where two 12yo girls stabbed a classmate and left her for dead. Hoy told dd today she "needs to keep it in perspective" and that lots of kids play violent video games such as GTa.

From what dd tells me I would make an armchair diagnosis that this child has some serious issues and has from day 1 at school. Teachers are obviously aware of whatever is wrong with it as dd says they let her do what she wants in lessons. Ie she will have a tantrum and throw herself on the floor screaming in class frequently and the teachers ignore her. Or she insists on sitting next to dd even though dd is already sat next to her friends (and doesn't want to sit next to her) so the girl starts screaming and screaming until the teachers tell dd to go and sit next to her. She's the bane of dd's life to be honest

That sounds awful, your DD and the other children need to be safe and this girl needs help.
