Only two more terms at school. Let's support each other support our DC in getting through to the end.

I think my dd left it to last to revise as it was the last exam. It wasnt as easy as she thought it would be. Or should I say not easy at all..

raspberryrippleicecream · 27/06/2016 16:57

EllenJane my DS was exactly the same. Same board. He said everyone found it hard!

Physics tomorrow and we are done

MorvahRising · 27/06/2016 18:13

needmoresleep hope your DD feels better soon. They're all shattered I think. DS went up revise for physics and fell asleep on his bed. He did two hours of good work on physics this morning but has really struggled to get going this afternoon.

Roll on 10.45 tomorrow morning! Good luck to all the physicists. I don't think there's anyone else left is there?

Leeds2 · 27/06/2016 18:50

My DD's boyfriend has an exam (maths?) on Wednesday, so tomorrow isn't quite end just yet!

Good Luck to all DC with exams tomorrow.

EllenJanethickerknickers · 27/06/2016 19:25

That's good to know, raspberryripple. Last one tomorrow for DS, then he's off to the pub with a load of physicists. (Sounds like there must be a joke in there somewhere!)

We can have a party here, except for Leeds future son-i-l. Wink Wine 🎉🍾

Needmoresleep · 27/06/2016 19:53

Thanks Bethan and Morvah. She is still running a high temperature, but is able to eat for the first time in three days. Such a pity, as tomorrow's exam should have been one of her better ones. Oddly, other than sports injuries, she has not had a day off sick since reception, so cruel it should happen now.

The school has been good on the drill. If at all possible she starts the exam, and then goes to see the school nurse if she has problems. Better than today when neither the GPs receptionist nor the nurse practicioner knew what an A level was so, though providing her with a certificate, kept reassuring her that she could sit the exam later.

Perhaps the bigger problem is missing the post exam celebrations.

All done here, maths S2 was the last one. DD now out with friends, not sure if i will see her before reults day! What a slog and most exams did not fall in her favour so i am happy to delay results for as long as poss!

hellsbells99 · 27/06/2016 20:57

Hope your DD is okay Needmoresleep

AtiaoftheJulii · 27/06/2016 22:33

Oh, your poor dd Need Hope she's feeling better again tomorrow.

Hope those that finished today are suitably happy Grin And hoping for the best for those still persevering Star

EllenJanethickerknickers · 28/06/2016 08:08

Just managed to get a photo of uncooperative DS1 rushing off to school on his last day in his favourite pink shirt. Grin Apparently it's not all about me, who knew?

MorvahRising · 28/06/2016 11:50

DS has just got home and says that AQA physics 5 went well but he's not at all sure he's got his A. He said the applied module was fine and the rest was also fine but he just has a feeling that he could have done better. I'm hoping that's just tiredness talking.

I thought he might be all cheerful having finished but he's very grumpy and cross, and naturally everything I say is wrong! Hey ho.

hellsbells99 · 28/06/2016 13:57

DD did the physics AQA B syllabus exam this morning but no reply to my text to see how it went .....and she has now gone to the pub for lunch!

LIZS · 28/06/2016 14:21

DS has gone off to meet those finishing today for a celebratory liquid lunch! Well done to all our dc and their stressed out parents FlowersCake

EllenJanethickerknickers · 28/06/2016 14:33

DS finally replied to my text with, 'Fine, it was easy.' The arrogance of youth...

raspberryrippleicecream · 28/06/2016 16:23

Snap again EllenJane.

All finished.

He is helping with school Primary school music week, including being back in uniform for the concert on Friday. And he goes on school band trip next week do he's not through with school yet!

The science dept is having a LaserQuest and Pub Quiz outing on Thursday, staff and students. And he has a Leavers Dinner on Friday to dash to after the concert

Leeds2 · 28/06/2016 16:32

Sounds like a drawn out leaving, raspberry! But nice - I think sometimes it is a bit of an abrupt finish when they just walk out for good after the final exam.

My DD has a BBQ at school on Friday afternoon, and then Prize Giving on Saturday, so not quite the end for her yet either.

EllenJanethickerknickers · 28/06/2016 16:42

I keep seeing you on the Y11 thread as well, raspberryripple!

How's that son outlaw doing, Leeds?

DS isn't quite finished with school, either. He's got a sixth form physics trip to CERN in 10 days, lucky thing.

MorvahRising · 28/06/2016 16:55

EllenJane DS went to CERN on a U6 trip in January and said it was absolutely incredible. Their science teacher knew one of the scientists there and as it wasn't running at the time they all got to go down actually into the tunnel. He was still raving about it weeks later!

EllenJanethickerknickers · 28/06/2016 17:22

Wow, Morvah! I might not raise DS1's expectations! It's just struck me, do they take Euros?

Leeds2 · 28/06/2016 17:30

Ha ha! Thanks for asking EllenJane. DD has abandoned the outlaw and gone to Paris, so I do not know how his revision is going! She is back tomorrow evening, so they will no doubt meet up to exchange news, and I will find out on Thursday (if at all .....).

CERN trip sounds fabulous!

esornep · 28/06/2016 17:47

It's just struck me, do they take Euros?

CERN is located on the French/Swiss border but the above ground physics buildings are on the Swiss side, on the outskirts of Geneva. Therefore Swiss francs are more relevant than Euros, although the CERN canteen etc will take Euros. If going by road then I guess he needs both Euros and Francs. If flying into Geneva, Francs alone suffice.

Almost certainly impossible to go into the tunnel at the moment as data is being collected.

EllenJanethickerknickers · 28/06/2016 19:07

Thanks esornep. They are flying to Geneva. I used to fly there regularly with work, as the closest airport to Cluses in France, but as I usually holiday in the Eurozone I hadn't thought about it being Switzerland. Last time I went to Switzerland, rather than France, with work was before the Euro existed so I was used to having country specific currency. These days the furthest I get with work is to the butcher's to buy hearts and plucks for dissection!

They only need money to buy a meal at the CERN canteen so I may stick with the Euros I have in the drawer.

hellsbells99 · 28/06/2016 19:25

Eventually caught up with DD and 2 of her friends. All said the physics was very hard (odd syllabus AQA B - nearly everyone else does AQA A). All appear to have given up caring and are going to party for the rest of the week finishing with the Leavers Ball on Friday!

AtiaoftheJulii · 28/06/2016 19:26

Yes, ds went to CERN in y9 and having to get Swiss francs took me a bit by surprise too Grin

EllenJanethickerknickers · 28/06/2016 19:33

Glad it's not just me, Atia. I mean, Switzerland are famously neutral, and all that, but still... Grin
