moving schools at end of year 8 advice on how to approach potential new school

Hi I have an unhappy year 8 girl who is struggling to settle at her (fee paying) secondary school and having friendship problems. She is seeing the school counsellor because she is so unhappy, I have met with the head of year (to no avail of course), I am meeting again with the head of lower school but I don't hold out much hope. In addition the school have been v indiscreet/unprof by inadvertently forwarding me an email where I saw what the head of year thought of me. Daughter just recently asked to change schools. My question is - is it ok to admit openly to potential new school that you're unhappy with existing school or is there a protocol for changing 'just because'?

If another school has a y9 entry I doubt it will even come up unless you feel the need to raise it. Round here y9 entrance tests have already started so you will need to be quick.

Hi thanks - I think for the school we have in mind we have missed the 13+ entrance exams. Only just though so it might be worth attempting to get a late application in that way.

don't wait a whole academic year. if you are unhappy look around now, there could well be spaces in yr8
