GCSE targets increased to A's

My daughter has had her targets increased in all subjects. I am a little concerned as she her working levels are noted as b's and C's.

It doesn't seem to relate to her at all. Parents evening in a couple of weeks so I'll be asking questions. In terms of applying for sixth form do we put these as predicted grades?

Her school is going through a lot of changes as was inspected as inadequate and now requiring improvement and she is in year 11

If they don't relate to her at all, then can't you just ignore them?

Targets have gone up in my school too. For my year 11 I have told them the target and then what I think they could actually get - that's their predicted grade.

The target is really the target for the teacher to aim for - they won't get their pay rise if students don't achieve targets, but if your DD is more likely to get Bs and Cs then that's great and what she should be hoping for. Good luck to her :)

Sixth form will probably want Cs in maths and English and Bs in subjects she wants to study.

Targets are aspirational, not predictions. They are what your child could get if all goes well, they work to their full potential and feel chipper on exam day.

I can do yes but aren't targets supposed to also be achievable ?

I also think 2 full levels above a working level is a little more than aspirational tbh when it's only a few months away from the exams - shouldn't the targets be sense checked ? Otherwise why not give all children an A
