SW London secondaries with strong ICT depts

hi, dd is very interested in ICT and coding.
i can't find much on school websites so wondering if any advice on here.
state schools we have Waldegrave & Teddington
independents: surbiton high, KGS, st catherine's twickenham, Sir william perkins, radnor house, marymount i think are all possibilities (though KGS might be a stretch for her to get in)

of these schools, or any others in the vicinity i haven't thought of, do any of them have fantastic ICT depts?

SWPS is actually above KGS in the league tables so if one is a stretch so will the other one be.

Look carefully at numbers for Marymount, they sometimes have tiny year group at the beginning of senior school - think 20's. This can be great for some DCs but is too small for many.

My DCs are in very traditional Indys and ICT is not really taught as a "proper" subject, I can't ever remember it featuring in any prospectus and I have never been bowled over by the ICT department of any school I ever visited. Your state options may be better, you have some very new schools opened your way and they will have written a curriculum from scratch for this century! I would look at them.

Random fact: Tim Berners-Lee is an alumni of Emanuel. No idea how good the department is these days.

Emanuel was a state grammar when TimBL was there! And his parents built / worked on one of the very first computers.

The ICT taught in the early years of secondary seems quite basic, and they don't seem to get to coding until GCSE. But this may not be the same in all schools, of course, and some will have computing including coding as extra-curricular clubs and sessions.

All DCs friends who quickly became very proficient (scarily so as their ability quickly outstrips their maturity and common sense - and because many parents find it hard to know how to supervise, me especially) learned by themselves online, from books and with a Raspberry Pi .

Is she at primary? Would they consider hosting a TechnoKids course, or a CodeClub?

yes she is at primary, does technokids, has a raspberry pi and dash&dot robots. she loves it. need to find somewhere to nurture it as i am clueless!

cake i am just basing her chances of getting in on those from last year. SWPS seems to make offers to those that KGS and even SHS didn't. from DDs school anyway.
