Sutton second test

Please don't discuss actual content of the exam due to late sitters.

How did your boys find the exam? My son found the maths quite hard and didn't finish it. He said the teacher asked them at the end if anyone finished and no one in his room had.

Same with my son. He didn't finish the Maths question. The invigilator asked the same.

ThePan15 · 04/10/2015 07:59

My son only just finished the paper and found it quite challenging.
The English paper was ok though I think it gave the boys a good opportunity to demonstrate their ability.

Any feedback on the Wilson's exam (not content obviously)?

My son found it OK, but missed a few questions at the end. Bit worried about that.

DS finished both but found the English a bit tricky, it isn't his strong point. Fingers crossed for 23rd!

SelfRaisingFlour · 06/10/2015 18:48

DS is good at writing, but the English is such an unknown quantity. How is their writing compared to the other boys? What are they looking for? Did he write enough? Did it relate to the question?

I agree, it's more how the boys perform in relation to the others. So many bright boys competing for relatively few spaces (although one lady I was chatting to had travelled from North london, her DS taking Enttance exams all the place!).

Niksy2015 · 07/10/2015 14:26

My DS said that maths at Sutton and Wilson was challenging and just about managing to finish within the time. At the Wilson one he said he guessed and rushed last 2 questions. DS is stronger in maths compared to English - so a bit worried to get this feedback. And with English - he said it was easier but writing styles can differ so much... Its not really about how my son did but how he done in comparison to the other boys.

I'm feeling quite anxious and its a longgg nervous wait till 23rd.

He sat Tiffin's ysterday and again was pushed for time. He said the Tiffins first round was harder compared to the Sutton SET.

SelfRaisingFlour · 07/10/2015 14:55

My son also said that the Tiffin maths test was "a bit harder" than the SET and gave random answers to the last two questions, because he ran out of time.

same here, maths harder in both and didn't finish. do we know how many children actually sit the second round versus the number of places on offer ? also do you know how many "pass" were offered for wallington ? thanks.

Niksy2015 · 08/10/2015 13:35

I'm really not sure how many children were actually invited for Sutton & Wilson. What I do know is that 781 boys are eligible for a place Wallington...

Judging by the queues at Sutton & Wilsons I personally think the total (inc Wallington) maybe approx 1200 boys.
