Have you checked Galore Park?

jemimasd · 29/09/2015 18:13

No, is that a website or a publisher?

Many thanks

13+ tests are usually taken at 10-11, so 11+ papers should be fine.

The only practice you can do is on the mechanics of each paper. The advice given to non-prep school applicants is to go through one set of Bond papers.

jemimasd · 29/09/2015 20:47

No, 13+ is taken in Jan of year 8 when children are 12 or 13. 11+ VR is just too easy.

11+ is taken when they are 10 / 11 in year 6, jan for private schools and usually sept for state schools

Many thanks

What type of school does VR/NVR in Y8?

Gruach · 29/09/2015 21:59

I'm also puzzled about what sort of school you mean OP.

In my experience CE is taken in the summer of yr 8. I wasn't aware of it involving any discrete VR paper.

cakeisalwaystheanswer · 30/09/2015 10:00

Galore Park publishes all the ISEB books for CE, it also has all the past CE papers. Are you sure you need VR/NCR for CE? It's not part of the syllabus.

AnotherNewt · 30/09/2015 10:09

If it's a school that doesn't use CE but has its own competitive exam at 13+, it might include VR/NVR.

Does the school publish any (on website, or sending to enquirers)? Though of course some deliberately do not publish those papers as they want them to be a genuine test IYSWIM. In which case, your only options are to trawl through other 13+ non-CE schools to see if they publish specimen papers, or just use 11+ books so your DC is familiar with the style of at least some questions and cross your fingers that the rest is not too different.

Bond do some 12-13+ papers. We practised some several years ago for dd1.She moved to a independant school in year 9 and was tested informally in year 8.

jemimasd · 30/09/2015 13:48

Hi, it is a private school with a big intake at year nine. This is the year that a lot of boarding schools start from. The exam is in Jan or it would be far too late to decide what school to go to. Our school does exams in English Lang and Lit, Maths and VR. Other schools do many other subjects too.

The school will give me one example paper. They have their papers produced independently.

Many thanks

  • Not if the children have already passed a pre-test in yr 6 ...

If it's a large school you should be safe to start a new thread with the name in your title. That way you'll get answers from people following that particular timetable and exam syllabus.
