I posted under another name a week ago about an issue with DD who has sen and has just gone into year 8. I asked if I was over reacting as dd has self esteem and confidence issues and is over sensitive and several teachers on here told me to complain.
After the reading test lesson she had been to the library teachers asked her reading level as she had done in year seven as they were told they MUST have a library book on them at all times. She followed the method of her year seven previous teacher. They had been given numbers and told to pick in between those number bands, dd always picks fairly low as she hates reading and had done so. However dd has a new teacher as she had been moved up a set and she was apparently berated and put down in front of her class for doing so as new teacher worked things a different way.
Teacher yelled "I don't know why YOU have chosen THAT book for" DD explained she had picked as per her previous teachers instructions and had read 50 pages and was enjoying it (it was not a high level) and was again shouted at and told "when you are getting 100% in tests then she could chose" leaving dd very upset and feeling like she was stupid (big issues here and school have been working with her self esteem)
Anyway I did and made it clear that I had no issue what so ever with her being given a low book just with how dd was spoke to especially as dd has massive self esteem and confidence issues.
I have just had a reply back from the year head who has completely made it all about the reading scheme, as though I have an issue with her having a low book and why she insists they have a low book when I made it clear that I did not.
She has not addressed my issue at all after a week of waiting for a reply.
Do I leave it?
Do I email back and clarify?
