So DD has done C1/C2/M1/S1/FP1/D1 last year
This year at school she is doing C3/C4/FP2/FP3/M2/S2
Independently she is doing M3/m4/S3

Will she end up with 2 A levels and an AS? What will the AS be called and which subjects go in which exam Confused
This is all with OCR whose website has a link to follow which it says explains al....but the link doesn't work!!

Has she not taken the pre-requisite 'Understanding how the fuck A level Maths modules can be combined' GCSE then? Grin

I don't think so, I think it will just be two A-levels, with the modules chosen to fit the requirements and maximise her grade in A-level.

C1-C4 have to go in A-level. FP1 and FP2 or 3 have to go in Further Maths. The other applied modules that she doesn't cash in can't be put together for anything, they'll just be going spare.

There's a table on page 6 of this document which explains the combinations:

DS1 did similar. The exam board put together the Maths and FM A levels with the best possible grades and the extra ones he did were just ...spare. He had no say in it.
He self taught M3 M4 and FP4.
Not wasted though because the extra knowledge was useful in his first year Maths degree.

NOBLE I am Confused DD has given me
this which seems to suggest at section 4.3.5 that you can get an extra MEI.
But I note it is copyright 2003 so maybe it has changed, but it is linked to from the current OCR website? Confused

Is she doing OCR or OCR MEI? They are different courses.

Brioche202 · 15/09/2015 20:47

I don't know! i think they are doing OCR but one of DS's friends a few years back took extra modules and DS thinks he got an extra AS out of it. He said though he got a different formula sheet to everyone else.Looking at the publication it seems as though you can mix different units from different specs/boards as long as they don't overlap.so I wonder if he took some from MEI?? I think I am going to have to ring the school and ask.He has to fill in his UCAS this week so we could do with knowing!!
