My PFB has just started year and we are starting to navigate the fun of open evenings, secondary applications. Thought a support thread for that plus all the fun of SATs, residential trips, worries about the end of primary etc would be good to have :)
We just went to our first open evening at our local comp. Seemed great and it has a good reputation. DD loved the art rooms and the work in there was AMAZING. DH and I said we would buy some of it for our house if we could! The teachers were lovely and talked to DD lots instead of just to us. Pupils seemed lovely although the boy taking us around was a bit dopey and didn't seem to know much! The pupils were very nice and confident (I know they are picked but still). Facilities pretty good if a bit dated but I went to a private school so am not completely au fait with state secondaries.
I am quite confused by value added, progress 8 and attainment 8 - looking online confused me further. Anyone got a laymans explanation?!
