Winter coat

It needs to be black or dark navy, plain, and cover the school blazer.
Ds previously wore colourful ski coats and it makes sooo much sense to make children who walk to school in the dark wear dark colours , so, where do I even start? He's not a duffle coat kinda guy Confused

Superdry?

We didn't have such a rule at the school DS1 and 2 went to. DS1 would never wear a coat, just a hoody. DS2 (yr11) wore Superdry and then last year asked for a parka. I bought one from ASOS.

Oh I do so agree about the crazy insistence of dark colored clothing for DC who are walking to/from school and crossing busy roads in the dark.

DD has a high-vis back pack and high-vis Nikes to counteract.

Next - nice plain black parka is what my son chose. Let them chose so they will definitely wear it!

Animal?

superdry

ds wears his superdry, he loves it. Which is important, because most secondary kids don't wear coats at all. So getting one they wear is a big bonus.

we got ours from an outlet store so it wasn't too expensive.

DS didn't wear a coat all through y7-11. Just the blazer. Very few kids that age do.

So make sure that he will wear it big before you splash out.

Super dry. Or something like berghaus/ North face.

Kamikaze12345 · 04/09/2015 19:40

Try Scandinavian brands - they usually have reflective details, very useful for walking in the dark. They're normally waterproof too. VikingKids usually have a good selection. Or if you're not too fussed about quality you could try H&M?

Oh, lots of ideas, thank you!
Kids around here are not too cool to wear winter coats, I have noticed them around.
Will definitely go for the reflective details!
