So DS is transferring from private school (had funding) We had to quickly apply when because of cuts funding stopped he also hatted it there! So we applied a week after school finished so we knew applying would be heard we where a late application but apparently this didn't matter as they are treating this as an urgent case because he can't go back for september. We knew that appealing would be difficult but we did anyway and lost. But that didn't matter because we have to move into our mums know anyway! So had to rep hone LA and the accepted change of circumstances we haven't applied for the local (tiny villages secondary) Which is full (quite good school) but have gone for the one next over 5.2 miles away has 24 places in DS year group. its a week until school starts and i haven't heard anything. I have gone on a whim and bought his uniform and everything. Will i hear back because i know they're are staff in the school at the moment. But what happens if i don't hear back in time for the beginning of school does he just stay at home. You're help will be lovely!

Also transport wise the council will provide transport for him i have checked but the nearest school bus stop from him is 3.6 miles away from him and i can't drive him neither can my mum! So what will the council do for him. All else fails they're is a bus that goes close to the school but ill have to pay and not 100% sure if i can afford it could LA provide bus pass for that bus!

Thanks for you're help

If the school has places they must offer you a place. I would be surprised if the school admin staff are in the school at the moment so you may need to wait until the start of term to be offered a place. Yes, I'm afraid your son will have to stay at home until you have been offered and accepted a place. Keep chasing your LA for an offer.

If this is the nearest school with places available you will be entitled to free transport. It is up to the LA what form that will take.
