my colleagues have been mopping up my tears this morning.

My child that is severely dyslexic, summer born, eldest boy... predicted D and E's... he got

3 A's - Maths, graphics and Art

2 Bs - science ( only entered lower tier papers)

c in geography - again school only put him in for lower tier.

and

C's in English Lang and Lit.

Hes now going to do a levels! ( despite been told by school that he shouldn't consider is A levels)

I'm so pleased for him

spudmasher · 20/08/2015 11:31

So does he have to choose a different 6F or different a levels?

tobee · 20/08/2015 11:32

Such a tough time for kids when they're still so young. Such stress.

getoffthattabletnow · 20/08/2015 11:35

8 A* in sciences ,languages plus maths n latin lang/lit.
2 A. In eng.lang.,lit.Not her forte.
B. In business studies - shocked at this and upset - wants a recount.

Trying to tell her they're brilliant results- but shes not having it <img loading="lazy" class="inline-flex mumsnet-emoji" alt="Confused" src="https://www.mumsnet.com/build/assets/confused-DVrVQwAF.png">.

Congratulations to all and especially to woolly's dd.

QOD · 20/08/2015 11:43

My friends dd got 10 x A* 2 x A and a B lol.
she also took 2 AS levels early and got 2 x A
bejesus

wildbluecornflowers · 20/08/2015 11:48

Hi everyone. Well done for those fantastic results. Smile

Along with Horsemad, I'm on the second lot of results this week. DD3 has done really well.

6A, 5A and an A in Advanced Maths. Also at a comp. Thanks so much to all the teachers. Hannah's stupid sweets didn't matter as she got an A.

IrianofWay · 20/08/2015 11:49

Just got to wait for DS1s English result. It's his 3rd attempt and he has now finished at college so if he gets another D it will be harder to do another retake. 2 years ago today he got his results the first time and that was horrible. Bright boy but lazy as hell and so scared of failure he'd rather not even try Sad

bigTillyMint · 20/08/2015 11:51

Eve, that's fantastic!

titchy · 20/08/2015 11:53

Eve - fantastic!!!!!

Dd got 3 x A*s, 7 x As and 2 x Bs. 100% UMS in all four Biology units!

eve - that's awesome! Star - you must be incredibly proud of him!

sugar - DD went to see her HT, who has said she should be able to do her EPQ - it had been the HT's suggestion in the first place and it's an 'artefact' not a 'dissertation'. And apparently the english teacher wants the eng. lit remarked - it was a C but 4 marks off a B. I get the impression eng lit was generally rather under par (so ripening, extra well done your DD!)

DD's were an A^, 5A* (3 sciences, maths, electronics), 3A(comp sci, geog, drama), 2B (Eng lang, german) and C (eng lit).

HSMMaCM · 20/08/2015 12:02

Eve. Brilliant. I love seeing how well children have done after facing challenges. Good luck to those having to make alternative choices.

wildbluecornflowers · 20/08/2015 12:03

Eve it is brilliant. Also Wooley - remember all the stress you had (I have name changed since then...).

So glad it is all over for another year and we can relax. Smile

switchitoff · 20/08/2015 12:08

Hallelujah! Panic over! DS got good results and is now registered for Sixth Form. Blazer collected, so we are all systems go. Even managed an A* in Maths, despite Hannah and her blessed sweets. Grin

Sympathies to those of you who are having to deal with difficult results. I know it could easily have been us.

Thanks for the hand-holding everyone. It's been a great support.

Ripeningapples · 20/08/2015 12:09

Eve you must be thrilled.

Just going to e-mail ed's new head of 6th form to confirm he's got her results so we can decline the back up schools who in turn can hopefully open her places to others so with some juggling places reopen and trickle down.

ErrolTheDragon · 20/08/2015 12:09

draylon - it's a difficult judgement to make. What would his other options be, and does he have any clue what he might want to do in future? Maybe if both maths and chemistry are iffy, he might do better to do physics, economics and maths and then something else that he'd find interesting but less challenging for the fourth option?

Sallystyle · 20/08/2015 12:10

My son with special needs got an A, two B's, five C's and sadly for him he got a D in English Language so will need to resit that. He got a C in English Lit but I don't think they accept that.

He has worked extremely hard through grief while struggling with his learning difficulties so I could not be prouder of him. He got what he needed to get into college. He was predicted all E's a while back but worked very very hard to bring them up.

Well done to everyone's child Thanks

mummytime · 20/08/2015 12:13

DD took nearly 2 hours to open them once she'd got them. Is disappointed, but did pretty well 7 A's and 2 B's.

Back to NCS this afternoon.

LynetteScavo · 20/08/2015 12:16

Well it's all over now. Smile

No need for a Plan B.

There is no Mark Equiv next to EDEXL maths, or WJEC English though. Is the Mrk Equiv what they actually scored in the exam?

Is there a website that can explain it all to me. I get the GRae, and the Points but not there are some bits I'm not sure of. Confused

switchitoff · 20/08/2015 12:17

How lovely to hear of your DS' successes U2. I have another DC with SN, so your post brought a lump to my throat. You must be very proud.

AmazingDisgrace · 20/08/2015 12:19

7A* Inc A^ Further Maths, 5A and 1B.

Well done everyone's DC!
