OCR level 2 technical diploma = 40 credits

Could somebody kindly clarify for me, because after much googling I'm none the wiser. Are 40 credits the equivalent of 4 GCSEs?

I realise I'm out of date and trying to convert to feet and inches from metric.

what is the exact qualification? There are many variants (like BTEC) that the weighting of the qualification depends on the number of units taken.

The weighting, however is generally for league table purposes only and many colleges/6th form want 5+ subjects rather than say a 4 GCSE equivalent and 1 other GCSE

4units, ten credits each, media subjects. Merit and distinction given.

(She has 6 gce's in traditional subjects, plus this diploma.)
